I would like to see a feature where you could unlock someones lock. Like 2 persons lock a profile, i vote for not locking, so the profile only has 1 lock.

This would be useful cause i am having trouble contributing some profiles Trinitron has locked. And i started to think, the lock has an effect on contributions, even if theres 20 people not wanting a lock, and 1 wanting a lock, it still has the lock untill someone has contributed to that field which would remove the lock. I dont see the current way as very democratic.

Added a poll to it, cause everyone loves voting, or at least should

I agree.

One possible solution might be that two "no-lock"-votes from two different users are required to unlock one lock.

I would prefer a button "Request Unlock" where you also put down a reason why you want it to have unlocked.

Wouldn't this open the door for someone abusing the lock system?

It takes 6 lock votes to lock an item to where it cannot be changed. If one person can remove one of those locks it is now able to be changed.

This seems to me to be a much better way to go about it (IMO).

This sounds like the best idea to me as well.

Yeah, I'd have to go with this as well.

Just an one-on-one counterlocking sounds not ideal.

Actually I do prefer the anti lock vote over the request to unlock button. The request to unlock would have to be handled by a human authority at Invelos. They may not have the knowledge to decide the correctness of a lock and may not like the additional work. Whereas the antli lock would work completely stand-alone. It is however true that with a single anti lock set from an anti-social member, we would need 7 locks in order to make the online lock funtional again. Not too bad IMO.

I would also add that its close to impossible for one person to get a contribution accepted, when theres 5 locks in it. I cant get through, and theres only one lock, and no 'no' votes...

Also, people, if you changed your mind, remember to change your vote

No anti-lock. If you want a title unlocked, if I have voted to lock a title you or any other user has any right to undo it. I threw the lock on for a reason. Now if want it unlocked youhave too choices, you can explain the data change that is required and make your case to Ken & gerri through your notes OR you can come here and state your case. I will tell everyone, that if after reading the post if I have thrown a lock, if I agree with the rationale I will turn my lock off, if I don't I will notify you via PM. Simple it's always worked for me.

I'd have to vote on the side of a request to Invelos to unlock.  If we can unlock someone else's lock, the whole process seems pointless.

As for the statement that you're trying to change data Trinitron has locked, I see that as a seperate and unique situation.  I'd send the offending profiles straight to Ken with an explanation.  I'm sure he's familiar with Trinitron's antics and I'd be surprised if you didn't get satisfactory results.

But I see no reason to remove our current system because of one abusive user.
