I got nowhere searching ...
Is there a way to shut off the update prompt? I have to say no every time I start now. And why does the link for 4.0 info still lead to info on the version 3.9 (2015) update? I'm not interested in updating when I don't know what's changed and Invelos should've included a "don't ask again" button in their prompt (to say nothing of actually explaining what the changes are for this version (still using the link I originally received and it still leads to 3.9 info). This is as annoying as not being able to changing the "backup prompt" to more than every 7 days (perhaps you can, but I can't find out how).

Yeah, that info should be easier to find. It's the same as for 3.9.5 and is posted in the beta forum. In case you don't have access to the beta forum, here it is:

you can always lock off all your titles therefore no updates at all will install unless you preview AND unlock that one title  or more ...

Thank you so much, GSyren! I knew there had to be a way to change that backup prompt time frame but never found it.    And thanks for the repost of the update info, you’re aces - don’t know why the link still goes to the old info for 3.9.

I had a great display setup showing the disc cover notes, which a kind member pointed me towards way back, but when my computer died last year and had to be replaced I wound up with a crap default which doesn’t even seem to include the cover text. This fiasco shied me away from updating, but it appears from scanning the post that I won’t be subjected to any further unwanted display changes.

Since you're obviously are way more knowledgeable than I am : is there a simpler report than the “simple” report? For example, the simple report takes 8 lines to display “24: Season 5”. I have a lot of TV seasons and multi-disc sets and don’t want each disc listed - each movie title in a set, yes, but not each disc. So, a TV season should be 1 entry, whereas I understand “Alien Anthology” taking 5. I also don’t care about the release date. I need to save (if possible) and print a simple one-line list (numbered would be nice, without the page split in the middle) so that I can check against my physical collection to see if all titles are listed correctly. Please don’t spend time searching, just asking in case you happen to know. Again, thank you so much for your kind assistance!!!

widescreenforever: I was concerned about systemic changes. I update movie profile info regularly. Basically, I always accept changes without question EXCEPT for cover images. Those I always preview because all too often the updated scans are NOT better - at least on my display.

I don't think there is an easy solution to get what you want in one single report.

I would direct you to the lower right corner of the reports window. Under Include Box Set Entries you can specify if you want just the box set parent (Box Set Cases), just the children (Box Set Contents) or both.

I would suggest that you make two different reports using the Simple report. One for television and one for movies. To do that, filter on genre Televison and create a report using Box Set Cases. Then do the opposite, filter out genre Television and create another report with Box Set Contents (or Both).

Personally I like to go an entire different route when it comes to simple reports. I like to use ProfilerQuery to select the data I want for my report and then transfer the result to a spreadsheet. Then I can modify the data in the spreadsheet, if necessary, and print it from there. Not sure if that would suit you, but you might check it out. I'm a bit biased, of course, since I developed ProfilerQuery.

Note, though, that you would have the same problem with televison vs. movies. There is no surefire way to tell which box set children that are disc profiles and which are movies, unless you start using Tags or something like that, but that's a rather big job if you have a lot of tv shows.

Thanks again, pardner.    I don't see why one can't just save the report to a text file or Word doc. Then you could edit from there. There's no proprietary rights problems or whatever with text files. Printing spreadsheets means printing a bunch of lines and stuff ... I just want a simple, clean title list so I can check off each title as I eyeball it - to see if anything I've sold is still listed or if anything I have hasn't been entered (except for the dozen+ imports I've yet to scan cover pix for so I can add them to the db).

Have you viewed the available reports in "Get More Reports"? I saw a DVD Inventory that looked a bit like what you described. Try editing a report that is close, before assuming that what you want can't be done.

Again, my main frustration is not being able to print to a file - which could be edited ad infinitum. The one you print today (8-15 PP or more) is out of date tomorrow, and that's a lot of ink and paper down the drain. $$$ And there does happen to be 104 pages of reports. I've looked at several (mostly multiple columns or image-laden ink suckers). I just don't grok that with all the bug fixes and upgrades, Invelos never added the capacity to print to a savable, editable document. I love the full-color collection display of the program, but I'd also like a savable "paper" document for some purposes.

I'm a little confused as to what you want. You said that you were OK with a Word document, but not with a spreadsheet file. Not much difference in practice.

However, if you would go with ProfilerQuery you could save the result as a csv file, which is really just a text file. If you limit the output to just the title you would get what I believe is what you asked for. Just change the extension from csv to txt and you have a standard text file.

I'll give it a shot this weekend, pardner. I use Excel for some simple record keeping and have set up some simple files, but I'm strictly small-time with Excel compared with people who can make it sing.

???? I print to file all the time, typically to  PDF. You can also print to XPS or onenote (whatever that is). There may be others. This is a Windows option on the Print command.

Here is an example of a report printed to XPS, being viewed in the XPS viewer. (Please don't ask me what XPS is, and how to edit it, without first using Google yourself.)
