After installation DVD profiler v3.0.1 starts as expected
But after closing the program won’t start again. The splash screen appears a few seconds that’s all. My System (Win XP Home) is not busy and I do not use Window Binds or any other Desktop enhancement Software.
The only way to run DVD profiler (one time): I change the registry key AppInit=0 but then the installation wizard starts again too. And after closing my problem is back.
Any Ideas?

Hold CTRL as you start the program and it will start with defaults.

After you close the program, does it still appear under 'Processes' in Task Manager? (Look for dvdpro.exe). Maybe the program isn't closing correctly.

Have you tried using the msconfig tool to boot without loading startup items? Maybe something else is affecting Profiler...?

In case you don't know how to access msconfig, click Start > Run and type msconfig then press Enter. On the 'General' tab untick "Load Startup Items", click OK, then reboot and try again.

Hi, Bugg Superstar.

Yes, I´ve tried to boot windows without loading startup items but it takes no effect. It seems that the second start crashes while reading the saved options. As I said the splash screen appears a few seconds. But when the dyeing of the eye should begin it disappears.

Thanks for your advice

I suspect you may have already tried this, but uninstall, registry cleanup, and re-install?

First, make sure you're running version 3.0.1.  Then, run the included database repair utility from the start menu.

After a full uninstall and reinstall, you're unable to open the program?

I take it you've tried the 'nosplash' option (second post here).

How much customizations have you actually done in your OS (Services)? Any at all? Drivers up to date (GFX, DirecX, other)? Any other problems with your system? Do you have similarly problems with other SW? Where did you install DVDP (Normal path, other drive)? Does DVDP have sufficient rights to installed path?

Still the same? Then I'll be

I am Running 3.0.1 and I am also having the same issue. I can start DVD Pro on any of my 3 Computers (over Network) and after I close any of them the only way to get it working again. is to reboot the (Server) machine then it allows me in again. My database is hosted on a vista busniess machine and I have 2 XP Clients. I also get the same results with running it from the vista machine.

On client I get the Splash screen and then a database error. ( can post later)
on the Vista machine (Server) I double click and nothing happens.

any help is appricated.

It is most likely a rights issue. Make sure that you are administrator on the local machine and that all rights are allowed on the DVD Profiler folder. If you are running it on a server make sure that the client machines have rights to the share, especially write permissions. I haven't delved into it but it sounds like it needs to write some settings off on close.
