I would suggest this approach for people wanting to run DVD Profiler for Windows but don't have a PC. The Windows version has a lot more features than the iOS version, primarily including backup and export. You will need to export your database in order to migrate to a different iOS app, such as MyMovies, once DVD Profiler stops working.on iOS, which is only a matter of time. As long as you've not deleted your online database, this approach should work fine. It will also give you the ability to run most Windows only apps that you might like. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 126 |

I can also upload, export, backup and check for item updates with no problem. Everthing seems to be working properly. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

I seem to be able to sync back and forth between my iPads running different iOS versions and my VM Fusion/Windows 11 DVD Profiler, so I consider this a major success. I am going to start using this as my primary sync method and will report any difficulties incurred. Fortunately I also have an older iPad and iPhone that can use this method even if iOS eventually no longer works with DVD Profiler. If anyone finds any problems to this please let us all know. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

I'm not planning on pursuing this further since VM Fusion seems to work. | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 305 |

BOTH for FREE, except for buying DVD Profiler. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 126 |

So now you have the option of running DVD Profiler using Bootcamp on Windows 10 on your Intel Mac or running DVD Profiler using VM Fusion on Windows 11 on your Apple Silicon Mac. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 126 |

So far so good. I imported my existing Bootcamp database on my Intel Mac to my VMware database on my M4 Mac and then synced to my two iPads. Everything seems to work fine. The only issue for Mac users is if they deleted their online database in an attempt to fix the Invelos server screwup. I can hope that Invelos will fix this, but that seems highly unlikely. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

For those Mac users running Apple Silicon (M1-4), check out:

You can now run DVD Profiler on Windows 11 on your Mac using free VM Fusion and free Windows 11. Just make sure you download your existing online database, even if it is old, BEFORE you sync to your iOS device. I will post updates on the link above.
Sadly, if you deleted your online database in an attempt to fix the recent server screwup, this won't work. | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 126 |

I set my VMFusion Network settings to Bridged and it seems to be working properly now. Thanks for the hint. I'll check it out more fully and report back after I've had a chance to test things out more fully. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

No. I'm not familiar with network bridging, but I'll check it out and give it a try. Thanks. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

I tried everything I know and still can't get it to sync. I set my Windows 11 network to private. I turned off my firewalls. I tried the name as well as the ip address. All no help. I had no problem syncing my two Intel Macs using Bootcamp and Windows 10, so I assume the problem is with either VM Fusion or Windows 11. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

Unfortunately,I don't know if this is a Mac OS, Windows 11 or VMware problem. Have people had success using Windows 11 to sync with iPads? | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

While DVD profiler seems to be working fine, I can't get it to sync to my iPad. I've tried all the usual tricks but no luck. BUMMER! I'll keep trying and will report back here if I succeed in getting it to work. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

Things are looking good. I've figured out how to install VMware tools so as to better use Windows 11 on my Mac. DVD Profiler seems to be working fine on my Mac so far. I downloaded my online database and it looks good. I want to stress the importance of doing this BEFORE you try to sync to your mobile device with a new DVD Profiler installation of any kind. Another issue is related to having two "PC's" running DVD Profiler. They can step on each other in the Cloud if you are not careful. I need to set this up properly before I attempt to sync this "PC" to my iPad. If the sync works properly, then I am finished, since I don't use any plug-ins that need to be checked out. I'll keep you posted. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

OK. While I am not totally sure about what I am doing, I seem to have successfully loaded DVD Profiler onto my new M4 iMac using VMware Fusion and Windows 11 Home. It took about an hour. I'll now test things out to see if everything is working properly. I'm sure I missed some things during the install and will get back to you. Anyone else giving it a try? | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

OK. I have downloaded VM Fusion Pro and will try installing it using the following: https://youtu.be/f9TUIVDUjto?si=a-8jnxdxDcanNHSd I'll let you know what happens. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

While looking for ways to run Windows 11 on my new M4 iMac, I ran across this: https://www.macworld.com/article/668080/vmware-fusion-review.html It seems that VMWare is now offering Fusion Pro FREE for personal use. Has anyone tried using VM Fusion Pro to run DVD Profiler on their Mac? | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 866 |

Did you first upload to your online database from the Widows version of DVD Profiler? | Posted: Topic Replies: 4, Topic Views: 841 |

I've been successfully running DVD Profiler on my old Intel iMac for a number of years using Bootcamp and Windows 10. However, since I can't upgrade it to Windows 11, I was thinking of running DVD Profiler on a new M4 Apple Silicon iMac using UTM and Windows 11. Has anyone had any success doing this? | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 305 |

18.4 seems to be working the same as before as far as syncing is concerned. If you notice any other issues let us all know | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 7761 |

For what it's worth, I've tried a number of XML to CSV conversion apps with only limited success. My best results came from working directly with the MyMovies developer on importing the XML file. They seem responsive. | Posted: Topic Replies: 11, Topic Views: 2049 |

Can I use either of these plugins to export my entire database as a CSV file in order to import it into another app? Some apps I'm interested in moving to will only accept CSV. I thought this wouldn't work. | Posted: Topic Replies: 11, Topic Views: 2049 |

Try syncing your iPhone to your Windows version instead of downloading from the online database. That provides the best results. You can no longer upload from your iPhone to the online database. | Posted: Topic Replies: 1, Topic Views: 697 |

iOS !8.3.1 seems to be working OK, but I'm a bit concerned about 18.4 which Apple says will be a major update. | Posted: Topic Replies: 16, Topic Views: 7761 |

The only way to back up is to buy the Windows version and sync to it. The online database backup function stopped working for iPhones over a year ago. I assume the same is true for Android. | Posted: Topic Replies: 2, Topic Views: 3799 |
