| Posted: | | | | I've noticed a number of people here have a cool banner in their signature that shows movies they have recently watched. I searched for how to do that in the forums, My Profiler settings and in DVD profiler itself and can't seem to find it. I even did a "view source" on one of the forum pages and tried to see if I could pick it out of the HTML code, but no luck.
Could someone please tell me how to do it?
Thanks! | | | Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6 |

Thanks! It's magic, and you have to have Senior Wizard status to make use of it! | | | John

| Posted: | | | | Yah.. it's pretty cool, although I suffered a few days to get it right. More than just the "recently watched" banner (and now vertical banner useful for blogs ), you get an amazing online list of your DVDs. the folks at the phpdvdprofiler are very helpful, and ajm's instructions are very straight forward. You can find all this info at the forum RossRoy pointed to. You'll need a web hosting solution with php. I went through quite a few free options, but I settled for paying 5 bucks a month for hostgator, and I'm very happy with it. It's a very powerful solution, and you get a lot of bang for your buck. Cheers! | | | |

| Posted: | | | | Can someone tell me what sites can host the phpprofiler software program for all that are using it here? I am trying to figure this out. I wanted to use the webspace given to me by my cable provider but it does not have the software in it that php profiler says it needs to run. Am I doing something wrong? Can this be used with the free space given me or do I need to pay for webspace somewhere else? |

| Posted: | | | | My free webspace doesn't support PHP, if I want it supported I have to pay for a hosting package. Check your ISPs site as it should tell you either way.
No idea if there are free web hosts with PHP support. | | | IVS Registered: January 2, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | Ok I found PHP net which gives free web sace as well as mysql and php support. I just logged in and still have a blank page but no folders to install PHPprofiler into as the instructions state. Should I redirect this to the phpdvdprofiler site or can someone help me here? |

| Posted: | | | | Is that site you have at www.php.net...? Not sure what your site looks like when you are logged in, but maybe John's tutorial can help to get you started. If you have more question, visit the phpdvdprofiler forum. | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | I got as far as this. There are no folders per the instructions to install the php software to. All I get is a blank page but i am suppose to see something like this. To upload this folder, use your ftp client to connect to your hosted web site. The hosting company should have provided the details, including login id and password, to you. Once connected, you should see a remote directory tree something like this: The folder you will upload the phpdvdrofiler folder to is the one called public_html. It might be called www. In the example above, both exist, and both point to the same place. www is a symbolic link to public_html, so I could use either. Open the public_html or www folder, and use your ftp client to transfer the phpdvdprofiler folder from your computer to the web site. This might take a while. Once completed, if you open the phpdvdprofiler folder on the web site, you should see all the files and folders just as they are stored on your local computer, and should look something like this: |

I am not sure if it is me or something with the site. I would assume that the site is ok and it is me.
EDIT: I stand corrected... I get a blank page. | | | Last edited: by Bill MacNeill |

| Posted: | | | | Well, I got a basic site up. My collection.xml is about 50MB, so I haven't figured out how to get it loaded and I just created a truncated version with about 500 profiles. I also only uloaded the thumbnails, since the main images would take too much space ... With that said, the ws.php code which generates the "Recently watched" images does not currently work. I'm investigating whether that has to do with my butchering of the XML file, or if there is some other issue. (I had to fix some bad code I wrote in the update which would affect things a little). I'm not certain why either mithi's site or mtmac's is not working ... | | | -fred |

| Posted: | | | | Well I cannot get this to work, The next step states to create users for the database and there is nothing in the php-net.us site using phpMyAdmin or cpanel that I can find that allows you to create users. What am I missing. I am also lookng for answers on the phpdvdprofiler site as well. Hoping someone here can steer me in the right direction. |
