I just got The Butterfly Effect and plan on watching it tonight.  I've never seen it and don't plan to watch it a second time any time soon.  So... with it being a flipper - each side containing a different version of the film - which version do I watch (which is better?) The Director's Cut or the Theatrical Version ?

it's six minutes longer and fills in an area or two of interest...
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

But whasn't the ending changed? IIRC I prefered the ending of the Theatrical Cut...

If it's actually a cut done by the director as a version he wasn't allowed to put out the theatres for some reason (length, certificate etc), then yes... however there are a lot of Director's Cuts which are no such thing, just the studio putting cut scenes back in and trying to get people to double dip.

I intended to watch it last night... but I didn't.  My wife insisted on watching Pan's Labrynth instead.  She said she's waited long enough.  I didn't really want to, but I enjoyed in anyway.  So, I'll probably try and watch The Butterfly Effect tonight.  So far it looks like I'll be watching the director's cut.  I'll let you know.

Oh... BTW... the colonel in Pan's Labrynth is a very mean man.

Hhhmmm, I posted on this thread before the site was closed for maintenance and now my post seems to have disappeared

Definitely watch the Director's Cut. The Theatrical Cut is the dumbed-down, straightforward version of the movie which had a few scenes removed to simplify the plot for the average audience and has a trash ending. The Director's Cut is more complex and develops the ideas much further; the ending is beautifully fitting.
