| Posted: | | | | Hey everyone!
I was wondering if anyone knows of a program (freeware or non-freeware, I don't care if I have to buy it or not) that is similar to DVDProfiler but for music (cd's, cassette's, vinyl)? I have tried a few, including the one made by 'Collectorz' but I haven't really liked the ones I have found so far. I haven't looked for any lately (this year) so if you know of any good ones , other than Collectorz, please let me know.
Basically I would like to be able to create a database with all my music (I have a monster of a collection) or if needs be, create a database for each seperate format of my music (cd's, cassettes, vinyl). I would like to only have to enter the UPC or artist/album title and have the program download all the information for me, (track list, covers, etc.) without having to manually add everything myself. I understand that like DVDProfiler, if there is no profile for that album, I would have to enter it manually but for the most part, I would like to be able to find most of my collection as easily as I can in DVDProfiler.
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

| Posted: | | | | Hello Zee,
as far as I know there is no software like DVD-Profiler for CD's. But there are a lot of frontends for "FreeDB" which is the most important CD database. But here you have to load the CD into your CD-Rom and the frontends are looking for fitting profiles (No UPC). This works fine if your CD has no Copy protection and your CD's are mostly mainstream but doesn't work at all for vinyl or tapes. Maybe this link can help you. www.firetongue.com/cd-database.html | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | I tried OrangeCD (firetongue.com) and thought it was pretty good. It has a pretty strong community and regular updates, much like here.
I've gone in a different direction with my music collection, so I haven't touched it in months. |
