I would like to get a clarification on the rejection of my contribution of Robson Arms, season 1 (778854-163096).

The actors are listed in the order credited; however, they are not identified by role in the credits. I used the program's official website as a reference for the character names.

I noted this in the contribution notes as follows: Character names from program's official website, www.robsonarms.com, per rule "If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role." (emphasis mine)

The reason for denial was listed as "An invalid source, such as a third party database, was listed in the contribution notes. Use of a third party database is not allowed per the contribution rules."

Should I recontribute this obviously valid information without mentioning the use of the program's official website?

I would hope the decline was an error. It doesn't get any more official than the program's official website.

Personally I would submit it again. I would leave the notes except I would add

(or something like that)

IF it get's declined a PM to Ken or Gerri would be in order IMO. If we can't use this type of site.......

Obviously if the roles are not in the credits they have to be taken somewhere.  I would also hope that an official program web site is considered a valid source and not a third party db.

That should be perfectly acceptable per the Rules, Joe.

I would resubmit as Rick suggested.

I agree with everyone else here it seems.  I would think the most definitive sources would be the official website of the film/series/etc or the studio's site.  If it is an actor related issue, the most definitive would be the actor/actresses own website.

More agreement; Ken and Geri are being really hot on sources at the moment because of the recent "must have sources for everything" rule change so probably (I hope) rejected this one in error

I agree with everyone else here that the official site would be an acceptable source... if not... then what would be?

The only thing I can think of is did you change anything else? maybe you put an unacceptable source for something else?

If not I would resubmit and put something like this in the notes...

Cast/Character names taken from credits... in the order of the credits. Character names not provided in the credits were taken from the series official website, www.robsonarms.com, per rule "If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role."

That way they can see that you did use the credits where there was credits for them.

I checked into this contribution.  The source for role names was not the issue.  Your notes indicate "Cast and crew from credits (character names from official website)", but there are uncredited actors listed in the credits.  This raised a red flag for the evaluator.  Alter your note to specify the source for the uncredited actors and you should be ok.

On a separate note, it's rarely a good idea to quote the rules in the notes.  It just ends up taking up space and slowing down the review process.

Thanks Ken... thought there had to be more to it. Wouldn't make sense not to allow the official site for role names.

Thanks for the clarification, Ken. I didn't suspect that was the issue. Will resubmit.
