| Posted: | | | | OK we have YOB and it is causing problems because one title changing changes all titles containing that member.
I know a lot of the usual supects will say YOB is new and it is causing problems so don't use it until it is solved yada yada yada. Personally I don't use it but that doesn't matter because the rules allow it and people are using it and the profiles are being accepted and crew members are being changed.
What I am trying to do is see if there is agrement on the way YOB is used so that only titles where sourced changes to Cast/Crew members get changed to a YOB rather than all titles with the name to a default YOB. If that was agreed then at Least Ken and Geri could consider only accepting YOB changes that include new not edited entities. | | | Last edited: by Graveworm |

| Posted: | | | | delete YOB before contributing | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. |

| Posted: | | | | Do we know that creating a new cast entry will work?
The biggest problem with the YOB is that it automatically spreads to other profiles - if that was stopped then there wouldn't be a problem. |

| Posted: | | | | Allow YOB on all cast and crew and let the system work as it was designed to and spread the information like a fast acting virus. | | | It is dangerous to be right in matters where established men are wrong |

| Posted: | | | | first, the site just went into spinning hourglass limbo for over 5 minutes when i hit the reply button... but moving on... if i download an approved profile with yob attached to an actor, i'm neither going to delete it or create a new record if i have to upload that actor in another profile. i'll note that yob existed and that's it. the really irritating thing about this is that everyone knows these approved yob are slipping into profiles unnoticed by contributors, yet people continue to attack contributors who don't notice. if you know something is a problem, allow for innocent oversights and quietly ask...or if one knows that yob does exist, don't question it. yob is in the program, just because some don't like it doesn't mean they have to make everyone's contribution life miserable for using it or for uploading actor records where it pre-exists. it's more than a bit ridiculous. krik not really | | | "Vampirism is still not a disease, Julia.
