One of the studios in this collection is Associated British-Pate Limited. Kevin Coed gave me a no vote on a contribution for "Quatermass and the Pitt (F9EE85CC3D34AF7F)"  stating I cannot use the word "Limited" in the studio name.

I found some suggestion for removing some words in this thread.

So what is the official statement on this. I have to say, that a previous contribution got accepted. It was "One Million Years B.C. (986C17A3B45A1EC8)".

If there is an official rule, I will make the necessary change to both contributions.

Regards,
Chris

I was also under the impression you removed Ltd, Inc etc from studio names, but when one came up for voting (adding an Inc) I tried to find verification for this but couldn't find any, so I ended up voting neutral.
I'll keep looking but so far there's no mention in the rules or the studio reference thread.

Well, the Rule on Studios says to look to the Forum!

Quote:
There is further information about correct names for studios, and the opportunity to ask questions if unsure, in the Contributions forum.

And the Studios Reference Thread you linked provides examples which suggest that Limited / .Ltd should be removed, as far as I understand.

I've been reading that thread, and there's no official confirmation that we do chop these things off. It just seems to be assumed that we do (including me in one post!).
I'm thinking this is a carry-over from the days of Intervocative when there was less room in the fields for the names so they needed to chop them off to make room. If there was an official statement to do this, we need it brought over here for the benefit of new users.
Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it over there either.

This is a convention used by some users.  Unlike guild afiliations, for crew, this one did not make it into the rules.  If the name of the studio is 'Associated British-Pate Limited', then that is what should be entered into the profile.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

If we're going to start displaying what kind of business the studio is, we should also start showing Incorporated, Inc., Ltd., etc.
