| Posted: | | | | Hi. A small question. i have a Boxset here for which i want to contribute the seperate Discs. But it seems that the Disc IDs of some Discs( or better said at the moment 1 disc....when for the others are profiles existing i dont find them ) are the same as for the Single releases of the Films ( repacked Discs or same prodction line for the Discs ). So what should i do now? I cant contribute them cause that would overwrite the existing entry(s) for the Single sold versions.
And befor someone asks, i dont know if for the other Discs are Contributions are allready out there. For some reason my DVDProfiler wont show the Profiles of them ( has happend 2 or 3 times before allready including the Boxset & Discs for this...... ). |

| Posted: | | | | Specific information is always helpful. It is quite normal for for Stand Alone releases and Boxset titles to be the same. This is one of the reasons that the Online deals with the data as it does, the Boxsets will contain the Disc ID for the set, but since Stand Alones are out there so many times, you have to BUILD your Boxset locally, instead of being able to Download it in one stroke. Don't forget to update your online collection to show it in the database option of the forum. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. | Posted: | | | | This can get quite complicated, so apologies if this gets too confusing.
There are two ways of creating online profiles: by UPC (barcode) and by Disc ID. But once a profile has been created on one of these, you can't add another. So you can have a maximum of 2 profiles for each DVD in each locality: one by UPC and one by Disc ID. Because of this it was decided that the first released DVD would get the profile and anyone who buys a re-release or a re-issue can only keep their information locally. So if your discs are already in the database and your disc is a re-release, it means you can't contribute any information that would overwrite the existing info. Your only option is to keep it local. Obviously shared info (like cast & crew) can be submitted, but not DVD specific info (like release date).
I'm assuming that you're adding by disc to your collection. When you insert the disc and it finds an existing profile, the first thing you have to check is that it hasn't found the UPC profile. Because if it has and there is no ID profile, then it's perfectly acceptable for you to create a new profile for that disc using it's ID (by the method Giga mentions). If however the existing profile is based on the ID then you can change it to suit your needs by all means, but you won't be able to contribute it, you can only keep it local.
When you say that Profiler won't show you the profiles for the other discs, it sounds like there are no matching ID profiles in the online database. The profiles may be there, but under another ID (as these can change even if it seems it's the same disc). Try searching by title and seeing if anything comes up that way. If you still find nothing, add the disc manually as Giga mentions, or download a similar profile, change the UPC/ID to create a new profile and edit it to suit your needs. Just make sure you check all the info if you decide you want to contribute this new profile. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

Second, as not clearly written above i havent found the exisitng DVD of the Boxset, and the boxset itself not with UPC, and even not with the Disc ID. I have first seen that the Profiles are existing as i wanted to contribute them. ( online profile list was updated ) UPC of the boxset i talk is 9037695078176 and there is an other Boxset of the same movies, only without the Bonus disc of this one, and one only with the first 2....which theoretically could have the same discs too. |

| Posted: | | | | OK, all of those profiles will download for me with no problems. Check your locality and parental controls in case they're being filtered out for some reason. Also try selecting the "Refresh Online Profile List" option in case for some reason your's hasn't updated for a while. And a database repair is also a good idea as well. |

If this is not the case, please check this file: C:\documents and Settings\Giga Wizard\Application Data\DVD Profiler\OnlineList.dod it should be approx. 19.053 kB
Giga Wizard should be replaced by your windows login. or use the search from your start button file search for this file. | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted.
