I've just added UPC 027616861153 ("Canadian Bacon") to my collection.  This UPC is in the database but it has slightly different cover images than the DVD that I bought.  My back cover has dashed lines around the "Proof of Purchase" text and my front cover has only the MGM logo where the database front cover image has a much smaller MGM logo and the words "MOVIE TIME" that don't appear on my cover.  I guess I can change my local cover images to match what I have but then lock and not submit them.  Is that the best thing to do?

The Movietime is probably the original release of the title. The Rules tell you the rest, yours is NOT Contributable.

Unless you can document that YOUR cover was the original, what you said is the best way to go:  lock your local images and don't submit them.

I have several DVDs which represent re-releases of older titles with the same UPC and that's what I do.  Keep MY images in my local database but locked, so I'm not tempted to download the older images from the online.

It would be a nice feature to have different revisions of the cover art...

( I haven't checked the database but..) You might be able to get around this by ( is skip looking? ),,
is the Canadian Bacon in the data base under USA  or Canada locality?  if it is USA and there is NO Canada., I'd say to change the location to Canada, and then resubmit new scans and info under that UPC code for this new locality..

edit: just checked and there is only USA locality.. there is no Canada ..  Go for it..

Unless the release is a Canadian release (and it might be since Mardon has the Canadian flag), I would advise against putting false data in the database.
Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here.

I bought it at a "CD Plus" store here in Newfoundland.  That said, it does not appear to be a Canadian release.  As I mentioned in my origial post, there are only 3 very tiny differences in the cover art from the UPC that is already in the database.  The Canadian rating system is not used and there is not a single word of French.  I do not think that this is a Canadian release even though I bought it here.  I'm going to just change and lock the cover art for my own collection and not submit anything.  Thanks for all the help.
