| Posted: | | | | Hello just saw an update for 4030521141643, where the role names differed from the existing profile. So I tried to check who was correct. The funny thing is neither of the contributions was right. In the credits there are no roles attached to the actors. My question now is how to contribute this: | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | According to the rules there's nothing wrong with getting role names from an alternative source if there are none in the actual credits. In this particular case, the person changing the role names would need to have a very good reason to change them if there's nothing to match to. |

| Posted: | | | | here is the rule that effects this...
If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role. In each case, list Actor’s names and roles (when given) exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited.
bold by me...
so if it was a title I was voting on it would depend on the source and reasoning used. I agree that there would need to be good reasoning behind because this is something that can easily cause ping-pong contributions. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | The thing is that many of the role names are more like job descriptions (e.g. The Dead Body that claimes it isn't), and the contributor tried to change them because they don't always fit into the fields. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! | Posted: | | | | the contributor is changing roles that are too long to shortened versions? to me that is acceptable reasoning... so the next thing I would look at is source. all contributions must be sourced... in such a case if they are sourced (other then imdb) and has a decent reason such as this I would vote yes. | | | Pete |

Also, actors could be named by something they said: "I'm not dead yet!" | | | Bad movie? You're soaking in it! | | | Last edited: by tweeter |

| Posted: | | | | And now for something completely different: Back to topic! The source given was a Wikipedia article that, at a quick glance, didn't have a role name roster but a paragraph that contained some descriptions of the roles played by the Pythons. I voted "No" on said contribution as the source was a single third party database and the role names mentioned there were no better than the existing ones. If anything, you should take the current credits and list the actors several times to be able to fit all the roles currently mentioned (and maybe some more, I don't think the list is anywhere near complete). BTW, my name is Darxon, and I can not be seen. | | | Lutz |

Skip Don't tell me you got a negative on this one? | | | Sources for one or more of the changes and/or additions were not submitted. Please include the sources for your changes in the contribution notes, especially for cast and crew additions. |

Sad but true, there are a lot of people who don't know what to do if someone's holding up a sandal. (OK other movie) | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
