In the next 3.6 build, if the local Credited As field differs only in case, and the downloaded record has no Credited As, the local record will not be removed.

As with the other changes, this allows local data to be as specific as you like without risk of loss due to downloading your own contribution.

Could you tell us what contribution this is as I am no longer sure what the issue is.

My pleasure: it's 0-97368-418547.

Thanks T!M.  Based on everything that Ken has posted, that does seem like a valid change.

Edit:  I see Ken has posted so, maybe, he can provide an answer...

Ken, if the entry in the main db uses a 'credited as' for capitalization, Lois De Banzie [Lois de Banzie], is it o.k. to change it to 'Louis de Banzie' with notes of, "Removed "credited as" usage for capitalization difference only due to new Invelos filter," or do we have to use the CLT to determine the most common form of capitalization?

With the changes in the next build, it doesn't matter.  Local databases will be unaffected either way.  So, while the contribution is valid, in the near future it will not be necessary.

Thanks - that's what I thought.

How can we use the CLT to determine the most common form of capitalization - I thought we all agreed that the CLT doesn't differentiate and returns the exact same numbers for "Lois de Banzie" and "Lois De Banzie" (57 titles/231 profiles, as it happens).

Thanks Ken, for both posts.  You 'da man.

We did, but that is what the 'no' voter was asking for, so I wanted to get Ken's take on that request.

It may be better to hold off on this since at present, when users download the contribution, if their local database contains a different capitalization variation, and they are using the Credited As for capitalization variance, the current program version will remove the Credited As.

Clear as mud?  Here's an example:

Local database before this profile update: Lois De Banzie [Lois de Banzie]
Local database after this profile update:  Lois De Banzie
Local database (next build) after this profile update: Lois De Banzie [Lois de Banzie]

Not that it'll matter to most people, but it may be worth pointing out that both Lois de Banzie's real name, and the most-credited form of her name in actual film credits, is spelled with a lowercase "d". The vast majority of the alledged "Lois De Banzie" (with capital D) credits that we see in our database are incorrectly mined from IMDb... So in this particular example, there really is no reason for anyone to retain "Lois De Banzie [Lois de Banzie]".

Ok, thanks that answers my concerns. See how easy that was.

And in bold to the instant case. So, I presume that the user will wait.

This much I already knew...even said as much back on page 9.  Whether or not you considered it important enough for a program change, was the only question I had...

...clearly you did think it was important enough, so, thanks again.

Yep, sometimes I get so into the coding that I forget some things I've coded aren't released yet.  For those still running 3.5, how do you do it?    I mean, it doesn't even have integrated trailers for gosh sakes!

That's OK, I understand that, which is why I asked YOU for clarification and thanks again.

It's not easy, but somebody has to contribute those Farscape profiles for Rick...and you can't do that with the new version.

Just messing with ya Rick.   Just finished watching Season 4, disc 1, so expect that profile later today.

Wait...what!?!?

Official Trailer window? You mean I potentially spent all that time working on my HTML window for nothing?

Either way, this sounds awesome and I was unaware this was a potential new feature!
