| Posted: | | | | Thought it would be handy to have this in here: Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: Slip Case should be used when the profile itself has no other case. If the box set includes individual cases for children, all surrounded by a slip case, the box set profile will have slip case as the case type and the children will have their individual case types. If the box set has a single multi-disc case surrounded by a cover, use the multi-disc case type for the box set and check the slip cover checkbox.
I'll take a stab at wording this succinctly for inclusion in the rules. I think all we need now is for Ken or Gerri to confirm that we've got these examples right so I can ask Dan if he'd kindly add them to the official case type thread. | | | Last edited: by northbloke |

| Posted: | | | | What about "The Shawshank Redemption" R1 Deluxe Set e.g. - Keep Case with Slip Cover or Slip Case since it contains several "units"...? [Case Type Drawer for this release like currently in the database is definitely wrong.] | | | Last edited: by orbital |

With the release of Build 1144, you can change Futurama to:
Slip Case with Slip Cover. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | I would have said keep case with slip cover for the Shawshank Redemption as there's still only one DVD case in there. The book and CD are "other features".
And thanks for the heads up about Futurama - I didn't know that had been fixed. |

And thanks for the heads up about Futurama - I didn't know that had been fixed. Ken specifically asked about a "boxset" with multiple types of cases inside. In this case both a keepcase and a jewel case (even though it does not contain a DVD). He said he did not want to eliminate "Slip Case" completely, because of these kinds of releases. To me, that means he wants us to use "Slip Case". Care to comment, Ken? | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Here's the exact quote: Quoting Ken Cole: Quote: No easy way to pull that from the db - only sortable fields are normalized. A slip case checkbox also leaves an unanswered question for me. What would be the case type for a box set which has mixed content (e.g. some keep cases and an envelope)? | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | Hi Ken, could we pin this thread please? And I'll start looking for somewhere to host the images on a long-term basis. |

Care to comment, Ken? Thats also how I see that: It doesn't matter whats inside the box, whether its a jewel case and a keepcase or a keepcase and a digipak etc. It contains more then one unit for which it was designed to hold together. That should be the very definition of a slip case imho: "A packaging type designed to hold 2 or more seperate items together". One can even argue that when it holds a DVD and lets say, some kiind of book, it should be a slip case but I would be against that. the line should be drawn at seperately packed discs of any kind (CD,DVD.HDDVD or BlueRay). | | | My DVD's

| Posted: | | | | You know, I'm so confused about this that I think I shall ignore it, never to contribute a case type agian. This is more than what I want to learn. Can't a slip cover just be an outer paper cover that the package type goes into and if there more than one package it's a box set. Why can't this be simple? |

As Voltaire53 wrote, Box Set case type has just been renamed so as not be be confused with 'box set' info for child profiles. | | | -- Enry |
