Couldn't think of anyone better than DarklyNoon to carry on the torch. Thanks for volunteering. I'll make sure to add some more Japanese headshots for your first, which will be V7 then, right?

The 'Headshot Database'...fantastic! Before installing it I had done alot of work myself to add headshots to the most popular actors in my database. BUT, once I installed the new photos, I find I now have 2 actor profiles for the most of popular actors!

Btw, I did  choose the option when installing V5 to 'Never Overright' and 'Let me Compare' for these new headshots. So why has the new actor profile taken precedence over DVD Profilers own actor entry? This problem means I will have to either change every actor back to my original file, when I add any NEW titles. Or go through my entire database and replace 'old' for 'new' (in every DVD/Blu-ray) so everything matches up...both a very large pain! Can this problem be resolved an easier way?

Instead of "Let me compare" choose "Leave existing", but you would also lose many improvments.

Edit: DarklyNoon would be great. Thanks for volunteering.

It sounds like you may be using the custom headshot feature which I haven't messed with so more than that I can't say. Sorry.

Yes but, where I have accepted any changes, I have now ended up with duplicate entries for most of the actors in Profiler. Problem being any new DVD's added now ignore the original actor I previously used (provided by Profiler itself) ...in favour for the latest one. Also I have literally thousands of titles in my Profiler database, so changing all the actors in it to the latest/accepted/prefered ones would take weeks (maybe months!)!

Not sure what "the custom headshot feature" is m8? Unless u mean the user adding actor photos by themselves before ever installing your collection of headshots in V5? Maybe that has provided a conflict here, but I would of thought it would just add/overwrite any existing actors headshots not create an entirely new actor profile for everyone already in there? I'm puzzled!

If you select an actor with double-click, in the normal layout, the list with movies the person was in pops up. Here you have the possibility to add a custom headshot for the person expecially for this movie. (right-click on the Headshot)

How did you add your Headshots? Saving in the program folder or directly in DVDP?

I guessing you mean my own personal images acquired off the internet etc.. Those JPEG's/BMP's were just dragged & dropped onto the actor profiles with the DVD Profiler. The latest headshots provided by yourselves, were installed a few days ago using Dr. Killpatient's instructions through the 'restore database' function.

Interesting. Thought it would be this problem.

Edit: If you added yours by drag and drop, I can't imagine a possibility how there will be two Headshots of the same person.
Or ...
... Does one contain a BY? Different parsing?

Lol! Didn't know a actors photo could be changed for just one title. I normally select 'Edit', go into title profile, 'Cast', enter cast members name, then 'Edit Cast Member'. That obviously creates a universal picture for that actor for the  whole database. Useful feature, but has no relation to all my actors now having their own clone in my database...lol. A clone that has done them out of a job!

So you have two entries for one person in your database? So one might be with an added Birth Year or with a different parsing. (These are the only possibility I can think of which might add a "clone". If it's none of these possibilities, I'm out of ideas.)

I do manually add DOB to most actors in my database. But when I ran the V5 Headshot photos, it shouldn't really create a double entry! Because its the headshot, not the actors that your adding. How can I get Profiler to recognize the original actors entry when adding new titles to my database?

Also I will add some actors have '3' entries!! That has happened to many actors also since running V5!

I think I've cracked what's causing this problem now!! I'll share this info, so anybody about to install the 'Headshots Database V5' doesn't fall victim to the same issue.

If you have originally entered Birth Years (BY) and headshots manually for the most popular actors in your database (like I have). I believe when you run the 'Headshots Database V5', Profiler sees the resident actors entry as 'unpure' (so to speak) almost as a duplicate itself because it contains the birth year. And then places what it regards as the 'master' 'original' file (including new photo) in the database. This new actor profile is the one used for any new movies/profiles downloaded to database from thereon.

For me this has now caused a major issue to cleanup. Anyone else about to install V5, should remove all 'Birth Years' (if they have any) for actors who feature in multiple profiles, to save themselves what I'm about to do. Would help if Profiler software didn't make such a deal about data in the Birth Year field in the first place....this is obviously a bug, because who would ever want or need two actor entries.

That's how DVDP operates.  Birth Years are used only to differentiate between two people with the same name.  If there's only one actor with a specified name, then there is no Birth Year entered for them in the Invelos database.
