Other question....as Vol.1 is a Single Slim case with different ean, should that be added as Boxset content as it is always in it or should i leave that out too?

I try to, as much as the rules allow, profile the set as it is sold.  In this case, I would create a profile for the outer box and add the single slim as a child under Box Set Contents.

This is what I would do as well.

I have a Holiday tag, and then subcategory tags under it, including Yuletide.  I used to keep them in their own binder, but space issues brought them into the binders with the rest of the movies.

For what it’s worth, Wikipedia gives the description of a musical thus:
Quote:
The musical film is a film genre in which songs sung by the characters are interwoven into the narrative, sometimes accompanied by dancing.

The songs usually advance the plot or develop the film's characters, though in some cases they serve merely as breaks in the storyline, often as elaborate "production numbers".

Wiki also lists biopics of musicians, including Ray & Walk the Line as musicals

However, as intertitles can be subtitled, there would be no way to show which language the subtitles were in separately from the intertitles.  For example, if I wanted a German silent film with the original intertitles but English subtitles, if both boxes are marked how am I to know that the English is actually subtitles and not new inserted intertitles?

If we wanted to mark what language the intertitles were in, I'd say use the Other box in the Features section.

I would think it was a different film, so you should be able to contribute as a bonus film.

I eliminated "classic" and "family" from my local completely.  They're both arbitrary designations, not genres.  Neither has a clear definition - I've seen "family" applied to everything from Disney animation to serious adult dramas that happen to be about family issues.  You've just pointed up the problems with "classic."  If I was making a section for that at my store, I'd include anything made before 1968.  However, our affiliate store has such a section, and they do anything before 1980 in it.  Again, arbitrary designation.

While Dickens is a classic author, I wouldn't consider anything from 2011, based on his stuff or not, to be a classic movie/program.

There is a simple solution for the OP's belief that box set parents should have no genre.  Remove them and keep it local.  I use this solution all the time.

I don't use Family or Classic as genres at all.  I don't remove them from the online since I know other people do use them.

I believe Special Interest is blatantly wrong in Documentaries, but I see it there all the time.  I only use it for exercise videos, discs of trailers, and experimental films.  I don't remove it online because I once had an argument with Skip about it (about Special Interest being a vague genre and that therefore anything could be Special Interest), and it's not worth the stress.

Bottom line:  The rules do not tell us how to assign genres.  They tell us that we may, and that they should not be removed unless blatantly incorrect.  The rules do not exempt box set parent profiles from this information (as they do with audio & video information).  Therefore box set parent profiles may have genres.
