I only uninstalled the later version... (4.7.2) as the one requesting 4.7.1 didn't work than anymore. I know it should... but actually I feel like surrounded by mysteries when nothing works the way it should... maybe I should have an Exorcist taking a look on my computer?^^

But: None of your tools ever claimed that it needs 4.7.2

If you can make that second part export file available to me, I'll analyze it to see if it gives any indication as to what the problem is. Preferably zipped to make it smaller.

I just gave it a try.... and I am not able to understand:

Okay, with flagging all the export doesn't work.... Could anybody explain me why it works in two parts but not in one???

I see three possible reasons:
1) you accidentally did NOT flag all profiles when you created the two halves.
2) one half contains subprofiles of parents in the other half
3) there is some kind of duplicate ID issue, with the duplicate being in the other half. Potentially caused by alternate profiles or a similar concept.

Hard to track down then, unless we have a way to find out which profile the full export hangs at. Easiest would be if there was a temp incomplete export file stored somewhere we could access at the time of the error message. But it's probably cleaned up already. However, finding the profile could again be done by the splitting approach, or rather, a similar one:

Let's say you have 28k profiles. You now know, that exporting first 14k works, but exporting all 28k doesn't. First thing to try, just in case, is exporting 27999, you never know, there might be a bug when exporting exactly all profiles. If that does not work, try exporting 21k. If that works, try 24.5k and so on. If it doesn't, reduce to 17.5k. Etc etc.. That way you should once again find the culprit with less than 15 tries. We then "only" would have to find out why this profile causes issues when combined with some other profile. Either by manually thinking about it (checking ID etc.) or once again by finding the problematic "partner" profile, causing the conflict, with the same approach.

In case anyone is interested, the latest CCcreator.dll can be downloaded here.

If you already have DVDPFauxAPI installed, you don't need to re-install. Simply download the updated dll and copy it into the SubPlugins folder.

If you have not installed DVDPFauxAPI, it can be found here.

Afterwards, you need to create a folder "SubPlugins" in the same folder as the Profiler "Plugins" folder.
Thanks for your support.

I needed a break from the data for some time as I spent so much time in caring about data that I didn't have the time anymore to watch. This way I had to recognize that there are nearly 3.000 Discs I haven't watched yet and that's a reason to stop collection for quite some time.
But the still present "data trouble" always is in a corner of my mind and this project, this idea, sometimes dominates even my dreams.
So a couple of days I re-started to clean up profile data, starting first with the Common Name Thread (http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=807936&PageNum=1), and when this is done, I will go on with all the birthyears.

To explain my "new plan" was caused by the following:
- I allready was through half ot the Common Names and got some new discs
- So there were two possibilites: Re-starting the Common Names once again (horrible!) or checking every single name of cast & crew of those new discs if they are part of the common name thread (not much better)
- I decided to do it the second way, and altough it were only two new discs I had to spend about 3 hours

As the idea why I once started this thread "only" included the BirthYear-Problem but the Common Names are also a very delicate thing, I thought about if it is possible to cover both "problems" with one tool or add on.
The only difficulty for that is if you get a lot of new discs at once as this tool would work only for one profile at once:
So my idea for the solution should work the following way:

- I get a new disc for which profile all data is present on Invelos (If I have to type it myself, I need to use the tool after that job)
- I start the tool which has two sheets (cast & crew)
- I copy the cast from the profile into the first sheet and the crew into the second (Alternative - as I got no idea about programming: If a profile is open and the tool, too, there could be a button like "fetch data" or similar that the tool copies the whole data itself)
- Then I click on something like a start button
- "Anywhere" the tool has all data from the Common Name Thread AND from the BirthYear-List (http://www.luigifilocamo.it/BY.html)
- After clicking "Start" the tool now compares all names in the cast- & crew-sheet with both lists
- If any name of the copied profile data is part of one of those lists, this name now is either coloured by the tool (one colour for Comon Names, another for BYs) or there is kind of a comment column where then the tool inserts "Common Names!" or "BirthYears!"
- This way now I now which names I have to compare if they are the right ones or should be replaced
- I will always be happy if none of the names has to be controlled (especially if I newly get a complete tv series^^)

This way I don't need to control every single name, only the coloured/commented ones which possibly could avoid 90 % of work or even more.

One more time so far it is "only" an idea with one or better two big problems:
- Is it neccessary to anyhow copy the data of both lists into the tool?
- It might be impossible that it reads the data from both websites itself
- It might be neccessary to get the data every single day the tool is used as it is easier this way than to check all the threads if new names were added to one of those lists.

Let me know your opinion about my new ("crazy") idea ;-)

Thankx for Support!

I wish had the ability to understand all of that, but I don't. Way too confusing for me, I'm sorry.

My overall reaction is that, so far, you have not been able to use the last two tools I built for you, spending many hours of coding and testing. So it is difficult for me to think about doing any more of that.

If I recall, you have an obsolete OS and refuse to upgrade, so I was never clear whether the errors you encountered trying to use my plugins were due to my programming bugs, or your system.

Am I incorrect in what I remember? If so, I am happy to be corrected and change my thinking.

One of the tools I seem to remember already has both the common names and BY info. But I think you can't use the tool. So why would I build another one? And that tool, by the way, always uses current data, directly from the web site and online database.

Can you confirm you can use the tools I already wrote? If so, then please state your ideas in the simplest possible way, in terms of changes you propose to my existing tools.

I had a PM conversation with Magmadrag a few days ago. He shared some of his personal problems. I can't discuss them here, but he said he would be unavailable for some time. So I think it's fair to assume that his silence is not a sign of disinterest or laziness. So please cut him some slack for now.

Thank you for that. He has also shared things with me in the past, but not lately. I took his recent post to mean that he was recovered enough to do more Profiler activities.
