It's done now. More infos in this thread.

Can I ask - how do you get your report to look like this? When I open mine, I only get the raw data tree. I've tried opening it in IE7 and Firefox, Firefox adds a comment about there not being any style data.

Just a guess, but I think you have to have MSXML 4.0 running to get the pretties.

According to the name variants program, I have 3, 4, 5 and 6!!
Not an expert on xml so no idea if that's possible or even advisable.
Am I supposed to open the report in anything other than my browser?

I open it in DVDP 3 and it runs from there!

Just checking - I'm talking about the report, not the program. When you click on the "open report" button, what does it open in? How do I open it in DVDP 3?

When I select Tools>Name Variants for Cast & Crew
up pops the Name Variants selection window (where you make your choices over a few pages)
at the end where you find you can no longer select <Back or Next> a button labeled Create Report.
I just click on that, after a few seconds up pops the window that is in John's (Rifters) message.

If you are not getting that window then all I can say is that you can't have MSXML 4.0 installed.
On the Microsoft XML Parser window you say you have 3,4,5 and 6.
Do you get the option to auto-choose?
If so select that and try again.

I get the report, but it's not formatted, I simply get a page of raw xml data. On the page where you select the version of msxml, only 2.6 is greyed out for me. I've tried all the rest with the same results.
When you click on the open report button, what is used to display your report? Internet exlporer, netscape, firefox or something else?

You have selected the wrong report format. To get the nice looking report, select HTML Application (HTA) as file type. That is the default btw, so I guess you accidently changed it.

The nice thing about the "name or initial in the wrong field problem" is that this plugin will actually fix your local database when you pick the variant that has it in the right field.  It moves the "wrong one" to the "as credited" field for that profile and inserts the "correct one" that you selected into the "Common Name" field.  Since the "as credited" field doesn't have separate fields for first, middle and last name, it doesn't matter that they were originally in the wrong fields.

But that does not fix the mistake in the profile in the online db which needs to be corrected. I agree if I only wanted everything to link on my local it's great, but I try to contribute corrections when I find mistakes, and I hope others do also.

Actually, I'm not contributing any "Common Name" changes until we get further direction from Ken.
