I just got Planet Earth from Discovery. It has no UPC on the case, and a sticker with the number 779512 and a bar code on it. How should it be contributed? Disc ID or the 6 digit UPC?

I don't think it's possible to contribute with the 6-digit UPC. Which is a shame, I've got a number of Australian sets with those.

Probably have to do each disc individually by ID.  Since they are the only ones selling those, they don't have to use a standard UPC.  Do any of the discs have their own cases with UPC?  If so, you could use that one for the master, and use ID for the rest of the boxset.

No separate cases, it is in a flop out digipack.

I have not yet tried to submit it with the 6 digit number, but I could use the first disc ID as the UPC as the other alternative. If the 6 digit number would be accepted, that might be the best way. Guess I'll PM Ken and see what he says.

Especially Planet Earth.  Those are the versions that have Sigourney Weaver narrating rather than David Attenborough.  That in itself isn't an issue.  The problem is the Discovery versions are what was shown here in the states and those episodes were shorter than the original episodes.

Well, I was not aware of that little fact. Oh well. I gots what I gots.

Srehtims, the one you show is the BBC version, the longer better one I guess. But mine is the Sigourney Weaver narrated one and Ken says use Disc ID for UPC.

Thanks everyone.

I lucked out.  What I bought at Best Buy is the David Attenborough narrated version.  They tend to be about 5 - 7 minutes longer (without the Planet Earth Diaries) than the Discovery Channel(DC) versions.  The Diaries were extremely shortened for the DC versions.

You didn't really luck out. The only place to get the crippled "Weaver" version is through the Discovery store (last I heard anyway). So buying at Best Buy, Target, Wal-Mart or any other outlet pretty much ensures you get the fully completed glorious "Attenborough" version.

Can you tell I have a preference of which set to get?
