My Alien Quadrilogy box is a Digipak Book which then sits in a box set sleeve. Is this then a Digipak or Box Set ? The online profile says Box Set, but somehow I suspect this is incorrect.
Is it safe to assume you only use Box Set when it's a cardboard sleeve that contains separate boxes itself (typically keep cases) ?

The slipcase itself (the parent profile) should be classed as a box set because that's all it is.
The child profiles should all have digipak as their packaging.

Although if I'm wrong, I'm sure we'll hear about it very quickly...

To be honest it's one of those grey areas where neither option is completely wrong.

This is why "Boxset" as a case type needs to go away.

It is a slipcase, whether it contains keepcases or digipaks!

It would certainly help explain things to new users, even if it was just renamed to "slipcase".
It can be very confusing having two "boxset" options in a profile.

i saw this too, shook my head, and locked my profile.

there's a bit of confusion about when "boxset" constitutes the packaging and when it designates the type of release. imho the quadrilogy is digipak; furthering mho, boxset or slipcases should be used only for sets that have multiple keep cases, slim or fat, within them.

i'm ducking now.

Like Hal says the parent is a slipcase but, for DVD Profiler purposes we use "Boxset".  The children for this set would be Digipak.

gather more, cuz i just disagree with the post between me and thee.

i agree that this sucker is a boxset as a collection of films in one set, but i still think the packaging is simpliy digipak, because the children are all part of the parent and cannot be digipak in this instance until the parent is as well......

shields up!

What would you do if the slipcase housed mixed packaging such as digipacks and envelope.  Not all sets have all the discs packaged the same way.

According to the Case type thread, it's a digipack if I'm not completely mistaken.

AFAIK, we only use the case type "Box Set" for slipcovers that contain seperate keep cases. Everything else is something different.

BTW, most digipacks do have an outer sleeve cover, it just wouldnt do to have it flop open all the time....

exactly...

trace, i'd shoot myself...no really, then i'd designate one from the other, but i think in the case (alien quad) it's simply a digipak with a case to keep it from flopping open as Lutz said.

now, gotta catch the bus and head to the homested.

good evening all.

But, we are talking about the parent profile. Not the individual discs contained in the parent. The children for the Alien Quadrilogy currently are setup as digipaks.  We have been using Box Set for quite sometime for the parent, just look at the Godfather Collection and Ultimate Superman Collection. Both of which use Box Set for the parent yet Digipak for the children.

Not all discs using digipak use slipcases examples would be the Universal Ultimate and Sex and the City.

I know, I tried to change mine here in Norway to Box Set and got many NO votes. I see it as a box set, but others dissagree and sees it as Digipack. So I have locked my profile localy.
Sorry my mistake. That was on the other site IVS. It is now a boxset in the online Db.

Come on, Krik.  You know boxset as a case type is bogus, we've had this discussion several times.  We even had a concensus of sorts under 2.5 to call it a slipcase.  Boxset refers to the content, not the container.
