| | Posted: | | | | I read in some other posts, some of you use powerdvd to verify the aspect ratio. The only info I can get out of it is that it is widescreen yes/no, letterbox yes/no and a source picture resolution which for region 2 DVD's always appears to be 720*576. Any idea on how to get the actual aspect ratio.
I also tried IfoEdit, but this doesn't seem to provide more info.

| | Posted: | | | | Ther is no tool I know of that provide AR data, the only way you can do it is via screen cap and measurement. be careful, we have been around the horn on this more than a few times.

| | Posted: | | | | If you don't want to spend time using rulers, here's a good rule of thumb: If the PowerDVD window is wide and the picture fills the entire window with no black bars, the movie is 1.78:1. If there are small black bars at the top and/or bottom, it is most likely 1.85:1. If there are wide black bars, it is most likely 2.35:1. If the window is more like a square and the picture fills the entire screen, it's 1.33:1. If it's like a square with about 33% of the picture being black bars, it is widescreen letterbox, if the black bars are even wider, it is most likely letterbox 2.35:1 (The Abyss is a good example of this). Go with this, combined with what is on the cover and you should be OK. Let the freaks with the rulers recontribute if they feel like it. /Mikkel | | | | DVD Profiler på Dansk |

If someone is going to start doing that they better start posting their measuring implement specs and methods in the contribution notes because even on a 60" set that's a difference of about 0.1 inch. |

I really want to watch that film you watched that was a 1 : 90.1 -- on second thought, no I don't. 1.90:1 Easy,, Goodfellas... 2.40:1 and 2:35.1 ?? Star Wars films are all 2.35:1, but Collateral and Richard Donner's Superman II are in 2.40:1 .., and Yes I did get the colons backwards..
