You state that the 2 versions have different UPCs, but what about people who want to add it to "wishlist" or "ordered"? All they have to go on is the title.

That "different UPC" info came from Skip. And people could easily use the build-in "Preview" function. It's not THAT difficult or complicated.

You're right - it's not that difficult or complicated. But with the way the profile is set at the moment, it's easier to find - my opinion is, why make things harder, even if it is only marginally harder?

Your opinion Tigi but then you change the SRP by 4 cents in absolute violation of the rules the Rules.

Skip

Nope, Skip, not my opinion. Though many rules leave room for interpretation, this one is crystal clear and does not.

About my SRP change for a totally different profile (not that this has anything to do with this thread): Yes, I did change the SRP in this profile. I also changed Studios, Features, Audio Tracks, Overview, Disc Info, Cast, Crew and Covers for the same profile. Why ? Because these infos were non existent or wrong.

Basically the profile was a total mess. And yet you dare to vote "No" for a change of the SRP by 4 Cents (for which I provided two sources in the notes). And what makes it even better: You only have this profile in your wish list. Congratulations, Skip, that was the most ridiculous "No" vote I ever got. For me, you've simply lost it, a perception for which I sadly needed a bit longer than many others. Well, you just managed to expand the already huge group of your adversaries by one.

Tigi:

I dare to vote no for any data that does not follow the Rules. Which state very simply NOT to change the SRP for a few pennies, you could resubmit with rteh correction but you would prefer to flagranytly ignore the Rules. I don't care how much you added YOUR SRP is WRONG and it should be voted NO or YOU should recontribute WITHOUT changing SRP. I even provided you the data from the ORIGINAL press release from Paramount Studios showing you that despite what your etailers claimed the correct SRP was $34.99. Your response....not change the data that you should not be changing and to pitch a tantrum and block PM's. FOLLOW THE RULES, SIR.

Sorry Tigi, there is no justification or rationalization for your behavior you have violated the Rules and refuse to do anything to rectify the situation. I have corrected smaller problems than that, some of them pointed out by you. But I want my data to be accurate and per the Rules, you apparently could care less.

The Rules state simply
"Do not make contributions with changes of a few cents/pence to the SRP." They do not say  you can do it IF, they simply say DO NOT DO IT.

You're right that it would be a little easier, but I think we can't just break the rules to make it easier.

Welcome!

As for the Steelbook, I see no problem including it in the Edition. The whole argument that you can look at the UPC to differentiate editions is plain stupid - if we go down that path what is the point of the edition field at all if you "can use the upc to differentiate.

The whole idea of the field is to make it easier to differentiate - so let it do that.

The rule states "take it from the DVD box" - do Steelbooks "box" not have Steelbook written/imprinted on them anywhere?

If the cover would state "Steelbook" than there wouldn't be this discussion.

Btw: "bob9000" made it correct for the canadian version of this release.

And I'm not against ANY user, Skip.
Nobody should vote "for" or "against" users...

Maybe it's just me, but I think there can be a subtle distinction between a profile that has broken the rules, and a submission that breaks the rules.

For example, I would agree with your point of view if someone was submitting a profile that added "Steelbook" to the edition. However, now that the data is already there, I'm of the opinion that it does no harm leaving it, at least for now.

Does that make sense, or am I just looney?

Edit: and Skip, is there any chance we could keep at least one thread on topic without it descending into personal attacks.... again?

Please re-read what Andy said.

This is what he said...

He agrees that Steelbook should be kept in the eidtion field. Unless I forgot how to read.
