IMO, the handling of DVD bonus features in DVD Profiler (and every cataloguing tool I know) needs to be improved.  I know a lot bonus features are useless EPK promo stuff, but there are a lot of important material too.  Considering the often huge amount of features on DVDs these days, there's whole lot of info not cataloguable or searchable by these cataloguing tools.  I want a tool that can search for everything about bonus documentaries/featurettes: title, cast, crew, year, running time, aspect ratio, etc.  I want to be able to look up names of people who did audio commentaries as well.  Is there any intention to add these capabilities in DVD Profiler?  You basically have to turn DVD Profiler into another IMDB -- have it store every bit of info about every title -- and that's going to be hard, but that's seems to be the only way to accomplish my goal.  Note that this is not some frivolous pursuit on my part; to me, this is an ESSENTIAL thing to have.  Often I have to look for certain important bonus documentary and I only know who's in it but can't remember the title or which DVD it's on.  And it's frustrating that DVD Profiler can't help me with that after the extraordinary amount of time I've spent entering data into it.  I know that sometimes the bonus features are listed in the "Overview" section of the DVD profile -- SOMETIMES!  But you just can't rely on it being available all the time.

You can do all these things yourself within your own database.., You can even upload and save your data on line (for sharing, but your actual UPC encoded discs- files on line will only be what is currently in the database already), and you can also backup all your data including your special areas and they will be save to your HD in case of backup., You will Not be able to contribute those changes for others to use, as they are strictly personal and for your eyes only.
Best Deal on the Web today is -Buy the program, (1 time deal, skip that next DVD buy),, once installed you'll enjoy far more benefits than 4 or 5 other sites can  currently offer either free or an annual fee.

While the extent of detail requested in the opening post may be overkill, I think there is some interesting information that can be gathered. Sure, it's trivial, but many users would enjoy that. It may be worth discussing a few things to filter out what a broader majority would appreciate.

Like, I would like to know who is doing the Audio Commentary...

Now as to the specifics of kevin's suggestion, I agree Achim. He makes it sound far more complex that i think it needs to be.

There is way I would implement the ability to capture mre detailed information regarding Bonus features, it could be done either locally, or by engaging the Online, I think engaging the Online would be the most useful. The method for handling such details would of course come from the disc itself, as with everything else.

To those who think my request is too complex, keep in mind that a DVD catalog's primary purpose is to help us look for CONTENT and where it is located.  Many of the bonus features are FILMS themselves and they have their own IMDB entries.  The problem is DVD Profiler only catalogs DISCS, not FILMS.  So in order to accomplish my goal, I feel the database structure in DVD Profiler needs to be totally redesigned from its disc-based structure to a film-based one like IMDB.  From your smart-alecky responses so far, I don't have much confidence that you guys can do it, nor do I feel that you even comprehend the exact nature of my request.  So I'm not buying your software.  I'll keep using IMDB My Movies, and hopefully they'll come up with a way to catalog DVDs as well, and put you guys out of business (AGAIN)!

Ehh... Have you for just one second considered that only users have replied to your post?  No one from Invelos have replied, so how can you judge what Invelos can do based on user comments?

With regards to your "(AGAIN)", I do not know what you mean. It might be the 2.4-3.0 mess, which does not really qualify for being put out of business (on the contrary, actually there where two businesses for a short while).

Your comment about hoping Involos is put out of business because they are not jumping up and down to implement what you want is.... ehh... childish. Sorry, it is the only word I can think of that covers your behaviour. You can of course hope IMDB makes what you want, but if they do why do you care what happens to Involos? I would also love IMDB to create a DVD database and fix their database quality as I also find it ridiculous to collect plastic discs instead of movies, but I am not holding my breath (specifically not on the database quality)
Regards
Lars

so you think..

Of course if we had realised that you are Bill Gates himself we would have been more respectful.

ps - everything you wanted could have been done in the existing program.. but since you are off to use IMDB instead what need have you of our (obviously) imprecise and lacking knowledge when you are the database King.

To all of you who have replied to kevin_y in this post, I think you are missing one crucial point, WE are all better off if he stays with IMDB My Movies... If he thinks that is a "program", the problems that he will cause only makes me happy that he will not be here in the future.
