His most commonly occurring "Credited As" name is 'Rene'.

It does not matter if that is his "correct" name or not.

I'm sorry, but it matters. I know that everybody is fascinated by rules, but this is as stupid as if we had John F. Kennedi, Walt Dysnei, Nicol Kidman, or Francois Truffaut.

Credit look up is made to choose between different correct forms (John Kennedy, John F. Kennedy, John Fitzgerald Kennedy), but not to impose an incorrect form. Would you do that in normal life ???

All of these sources list René's name as René, not Rene (or Renee).  The problem with all of this is that in most of his roles he is credited as Rene.

Is he really? Or is he actually credited on screen as "RENE" ?
If so, I wonder if this is a case like "FRANCOIS".

There is not a scintilla of difference between translating FRANCOIS as Francois or François.  Unless you show exactly what is on the screen (FRANCOIS) you are inserting data which is not there.

When a french guy sees FRANCOIS, he reads François (franssois) and never Francois (frankois).

Lucky for you this American actor
is named after his grand-father the Swiss post-Impressionist painter René Auberjonois, unless offcourse he Americanised his first name.
So unless proved otherwise his First name = René

D. B. Sweeney

This guy is always credited as D. B. Sweeney (or D.B. Sweeney), but parsing has been inconsistent.  It's either D.B.//Sweeney or D./B./Sweeney.  I propose that we adopt the latter (D./B./Sweeney) as his full birth name is: Daniel/Bernard/Sweeney

Hm, a FRANCOIS is also in Germany a François and a RENE is a René (if the name is a french name).

Yes, as

François-Kaserne I
and
François-Kaserne II

in Hanau and even François Ganshof is written correct (see "Literatur").

The link you're using directs to an american site

And even if there are german sites writing Francois it doesn't mean it's correct, there are also Germans making mistakes (only few, but they exist  )

Forgot I'd had this one accepted recently, though it's more of a parsing issue than anything else:

Andrew Lee//Potts (also credited as Andrew-Lee Potts)

andrew lee (potts) is a double-barrelled first name according to wikipedia, www.talentedbritishactors.co.uk/andrew-lee.html and primeval.tv (a uk tv series he currently stars in) and is sometimes hyphenated but according to CLT, the no-hyphen is more common.

Here's another one that's been discussed in the forums:
Al Hunter Ashton = Al Ashton, Al Hunter (usu. as a writer), Al Hunter-Ashton

The various titles he's in were checked and listed here.

Please note, there are other people who go by very similar names (Alan Hunter, Alistair Hunter etc.) - these aren't the same person.
