As you know there are two different cases for HD & BD releases. The thin ones and the thicker, amaray-like cases used by Universal or Fox.

Does this thicker one count as a Elite Case or as a Keep Case?

I got some no votes from people who say it's an Amaray, so it has to be contributed as a Keep Case. But I think it should be an Elite too, because the sizes and the look (rounded edges) is clearly different.

I asked that question already in another thread. It's definetly not Elite.

Why not? Does't look like a keep case.

But it's double the size of an elite case.

You mean the cases such as those for Smallville and Planet Earth? Why wouldn't they be classed as Elite when double alphas and amarays go under "keep case"?

Or do you mean the thicker ones used for the UK releases of Serenity and Goblet of Fire, for example? Again, why wouldn't they be elite? They're the precise configuration but for a slightly increased width.

How about a photo?  My Universal cases doesn't appear to be radically different from any other case, so I'm having a hard time picturing this.

Sure, here are some pictures I made.

1) Standard Elite Cases

2) The "thicker" cases the fuzz is about, used by Universal and Fox

3) Elite Case (1st) and the thicker one (2nd) from the inside

4) Comparison with an standard DVD Keep Case

If you have a close look at 3) you will see that there is "Elite" written below the 300 disc. When it comes to Kingdom of Heaven, there is "Amaray". But this is only the manufacturer and as you can see, its clearly different from an DVD Keep Case, the edges are rounded and the height is different. The only thing is, that it's thicker than the standard Elite Case, from the inside its identical too. Furthermore we don't differ between all the Keep Case types e.g. Amaray, Scanavo, Flexbox because they nearly look the same.

So what do you think guys, does it count as an Elite too?

I think this thicker Amaray-Cases are only distributed in Europe!
And they are really different from the elite cases!

Elite is also the name of a company. It would be OK when both cases get the casetype HD-Case, but elite are definitely the small ones with the print elite inside!

Ok guys, we have another problem here. I checked my other releases and saw that there are other types too:

5) Slim HD Cases not called "elite"

Terminator is made from "seastone.com"
Miami Vice has a US Pat. 6.123.192 Number only. The same for the German BD of Casino Royale

To sum things up:

- There are 3 different "slim" HD & BD cases ("Elite" - used by Warner, that one from "seastone.com" and the one with the US Pat #)
- There is a thicker HD & BD case from Amaray, which seems to be used in Europe by Universal & Foxonly according to the websites (http://www.amaray.com/cases_rt-bluray.asp & http://www.amaray.com/cases_rt-hddvd.asp)

> We need a new casetype and rename the "elite" one.

My proposals would be:

Slim HD/BD Case & European HD/BD Case or something like that.

How about:
1. HD Slim (or Thin) Case
2. HD Keep Case

I don't really see the need to distinguish between HD DVD and Blu-ray in the case field since this is already covered elsewhere.

In the next beta Elite is now HD Slim and HD Keep Case has been added.  If anyone doesn't like this solution, now's the time to speak up.

Not so much that I don't like it, but it seems to me that they are ALL simply variations of a standard keep case.  How long will it be before we start asking for exceptions because the case is a different color?

Seems like there are bigger problems to deal with than this, but this is getting the grease.  I guess I don't get it.
