Hello
Your Plug in would be very nice, but I'am not able to send some E-Mails. I turned of the fire wall and virus scanners. I tried different SMTP servers, with and without passwort, but I'am not able to send  a E-Mail.

My System is W2k SP4 with The Bat! as standart E-Mail client.
Have you got an idea what the problem could be?

Thanks

Gretay

At this point, no clue. I am not exactly an expert in this. I took some sample code I found on the internet and modified it. It worked for me and a bunch of others, so I thought I had gotten lucky.

One guess is that it may be the mail client or win2K. All my testinmg was done on XP/Vista, and with MS mail clients such as Outlook - but that shouldn't matter. The mail is sent out "uinder the covers" using MS .NET APIs. Maybe they don't work on win2K - not sure. If I get further ideas, I'll let you know.

This can not depend on The Bat. I use it as standard client also and the plug in works fine on XP.

Ah ha, you didn't mention that before. the answer seems clear - the code I am using does not work on win2k. I will change the Plugin announcement page to reflect this until or unless I can fix that. Sorry for the inconvenience.

thanks for this good plugins.

Is there a way to have the %title% tag in the subject ?

Moreover, I think it could be better if we can select the dvd that will generated the email and that the processus won't stop if one of the email address is malformed.
Thanks

All very fine suggestions. Next release I will do them. Probably a couple of weeks from now. Thanks for your feedback.

I made two of the changes, and I will release soon, after a bit more testing. The one I probably will not do is the "general email" suggestion. It seemed great at the time, but my code was written with the assumption that a loan transaction has taken place, so the code is filled with attempts to get information from loan events. Of course it is possible for me to change it, but it is a lot of work, and there are certainly many other ways to send email not related to DVD loan status. Sorry.

On the other hand, if you mean select from the list of overdue DVDs, that is something that is probably easy to do. Let me know.

First off, this is a great idea. So thanks for all the hard work you have put into it.
However, I am having some issues with it working.  I don't think it is sending out the emails, as I have my own email in the CC field and nothing returns.  My isp is Comcast so I have changed the SMTP host to match what is in my outlook.  But it still does not work.  I have also tried using the default credentials and manually typing in what they are, and still no go.  Have I missed something, or what else should I try?

Thanks in advance!

Did you take it out of "preview"mode and check the box that says "ok to send"?

Voila! Well I did have it checked to send but, the preview mode was also checked.  So once I unchecked the preview mode, the same progress bar emerged as before and it went to completion.  However, I received a CC this time.  Utterly fantastic thanks again.  Quick question why wasn't sending the emails with preview mode.  I thought it was there just to show you what the email will look like?

Thanks again for all you work.

It would be easier to help you if you described in exact detail what you are typing into each field. The error is rejecting something specific, but we only have general information at this point. For example, what do you actually type in as the smtp server for Gmail?

Are you doing it this way?

You need to basically set up DVDeMail the same way - as a pop3 client to Gmail.

And, oh yeah - do your users have email addressed defined? (Tools / Edit / Users - email address)?

I use smtp.gmail.com and the email adress in "from" and "cc" is m.holm.rasmussen@gmail.com
and the credentials are accurate too

And I have set up gmail to both pop and imap. It works with outlook, as I receive my emails there.

I have also tried to use other and different emails, with the same issue coming up.

Here you can see a sreendump of my settings

Edit: I had not defined emails for my users, but now I have and I get another error saying "Email send Error, Processing cancelled"

Ok, so the first message was definitely due to the missing user addresses, since there was a blank "to" field.

I'm not sure what the problem is now. Could you perhaps try with a simple "user@site.com " as cc:? It is possible that my code does not handle all those periods in the cc: name. Let me know.

If that is not it, I will go ahead and release my new version, which has a better send error message, so we can see exactly what the email system is complaining about - then we can fix it. But if you can, please try that test - then I can fix the problem before I ship the next release. Thank you.
