In tomorrow's ad, Best Buy will be offering a deal on any Blu-ray player (excluding the PS3).

You get 5 free movies instantly (small print says they must be priced below $34.99).

Plus, you get the 5 free via the Mail-in Rebate (standard deal).

Plus, you can increase this deal if you can find a model that has movies already in the box.

Also, if you already made a purchase at Best Buy within a 30 day period, bring in your reciept to price match the current promotion.

Enjoy!!

Do you mean that since I bought my Sony Blu-Ray 13 days ago, I can take my receipt and get 5 free movies in store. I already sent out the paperwork for the 5 free via mail. I can get 5 more, ohhh yeah.

Just a heads up. I called my local Best Buy and I was told this promotion seems to be only with Sony Blu-Ray players, and they are only honoring the backdated receipts if it were 2 weeks from today date. Now this is what my local store told me, I dont know if it would be different for different stores. I hope this helps.

Probably a store policy. They are supposed to price match up to 30 days, and this would be a price match. I'll check the details on the players, I was not told it was Sony only.

EDIT: This is what Speedy posted over at DVD Talk....

Cool, I hope that everything goes okay for you. I just wanted to clarify what I was told about the sale, as I don't like to post false information.

Remember, that the sale doesn't start until Sunday, so, they might give you a hard time if you go toniight.

Also, thanks for the updates.

So I drove 17 miles to the local Best Buy and the deal that I talked to an associate about this morning doesnt exist. I explained to them that I spoke to an associate this morning and it meant nothing. As of right now the deal they have is that if you buy a Blu-Ray player you get 5 free mail in, they say that their ad only goes until saturday, that maybe on Sundays ad they will be offering that special. So I think Erik is correct that it starts on Sunday. Keep this in mind before you folks waste your time driving to your local store. I wish I could find that sales person from this morning and ring his neck.

Well I got jipped by BestBuy. I caled and asked if I could go in and take my receipt and get the 5 free in store movies, I was told yes by a Produciton Manager. I drove the 17 miles, got the kids all excited picked the 5 movies, went to the register and was told "No". I asked for the Production Manager i spoke on the phone with and he said he made a mistake. The problem is I bought my DVD player on sale, for $299.00. The players are now $399 so in order for me to get my free DVDs I would have to have the player refunded and then charged $399 and I could get the free movies. I cant have my cake and it eat too. I cant buy the blu-ray for $299 and still get the 5 free in store movies. THAT SUCKS!!!! I walked out and made myself a promise not to ever go back to Best Buys. I pass a Circuit City, Wal-Mart, Video Only, Target and even a Family Owned Home Theater store in order to get to Best Buy, this is the second time I have been disappointed by BB and wont be going back. I got screwed out of $250 3 weeks ago because I went to buy a Sony laptop that was on sale for $1849, I went to the store and they were out of stock, I said I would come back the next and the sales man said no problem, I went back the next day first thing in the morning (sunday) and they were now $2099, same sales man remembered me and said there was nothing he can do. I had to buy the laptop because I was replacing one of my employees laptop that was stolen out of one of our airplanes, so it had to be that one. I work too hard for my money and dont appreciate the lack of customer support from BB. I live in a very small town, and see the same people at BB all the time, and they seem to remember me because they wave and say hello when I see them at other locations. Oh, well back to CC or even Wal-Mart. (These other places dont offer any customer satisfaction but they are less expensive and if I am going to be treated like crud at both places, I would rather do it at the place that costs less. That is my 2 cents.

....by the way I understand their reasoning behind the price difference and the inability to get the 5 free dvd's. My problem is that I spoke to a manager on purpose when I called to make sure I was not going to drive 17 miles there and 17 miles back for a waste, and this was a waste and they could care less.

Anyone familair with the Toshiba Free mail in 5 disc HDdvd promotion currently underway to the end of feb 08??
I'm reading on the web at other sites that the promotion is such a success that they have run  out of discs and customers have been waiting for weeks and weeks and have been told they have to wait even longer..

((with respects to pplchamp, don't mean to hijack your post, but the ad does expire on the 29th..

i would agree that you could not get both promotions, either the $100 off or the 5 free discs, however if he knew he said told you yes, he should have honored it, that is not right.

I feel your pain, really I do.

Get this one....

They have a deal where you can get free shipping on video games, pc games and gaming accessories...

It says

Free shipping on featured games and accessories
Get Free Shipping on all of the video games, PC games and accessories featured in our Sunday circular. Check 'em out below!

Placed an order this morning, no free shipping. I emailed customer service, the idiot... tells me in email that in order to get free shipping, I have to "Go to my local Best Buy B&M, tell them what games I want, and they will ship them to my house for free!"

I'm sorry, does that make sense to any of you? I am at the store, I tell them what I want, and they ship them to me for free???????? Why not just take them home with me while I am there?

So, of course, I replied asking him to send this issue to his supervisor, and he replies with the same BS story about driving to BB to get free shipping.

So, it's time to call CS.... the CSR credited me for the shipping charge within 30 seconds, didn't believe what the other guy was telling me.

Best Buy has to be better than this... no?

Honestly I have always shopped at BB, I love their variety and the customer service is pretty good. Like I said, we live in a small town. The guy that works in the video camera department is also our local high school history teacher, he works at BB for fun and extra cash. We bought our video camera from him, and it great that way. But when I go out of my way to shop there and get treated like I did today, I start thinking twice about shopping there.
