| Posted: | | | | Please be reasonable - the title of the film, and this DVD is 'The Birds'. Main-Source: credits on the DVD. But also check the back cover, where it says 'Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds"'. Please too compare to the Psycho Collector's Edition, where the title is rightfully 'Psycho', and NOT 'Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho'. | Posted: | | | | Thanks for bringing this to my attention.. Let's drop the Alfred Hitchcock from the title-- as my other 8 titles of Hitchcock DON"T have his name in front of the title.., this one shouldn't either, This way all 8 of my current titles are just that.. The Title of the Movie. Evaluate this contribution | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

| Posted: | | | | 'Alfred Hitchcock's' is not part of the title. 1. In this and other AH movies "Alfred Hitchcock's" is actually shorthand for "Alfred Hitchcock's Production of" and not part of the title. 2. The AFI (American Film Institute) lists it as only "The Birds" on their Top 100 America's Greatest Movies. 3. The opening credits show the title only as "The Birds". 4. On the back cover of the DVD, the title "The Birds" is set in quotation marks: Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" (Alfred Hitchcock's Production of "The Birds"). | Posted: | | | | It's recently been decided that the title should be "The Birds" and not "Alfred Hitchcock's The Bird" on another "The Birds" profile. See the contribution forum for more details. | Posted: | | | | The title should be The Birds. Alfred Hitchcock's The Birds is a "possessory credits" that is above the title rather than part of the title. DGA Article on "A Film by" Credit See: http://www.dga.org/thedga/cr_gi_wga.php3 DGA Timeline on Possessory Credits battle wtih WGA See: http://www.dga.org/news/v28_6/news_pc-timeline.php3 DGA Article on WGA Proposals See: http://www.dga.org/news/v25_4/news_WGA_proposals.php3 The last article includes this quote from Alfred Hitchcock: "I consider the possessory use of my name above the title of a film as of extraordinary value to the producing company as well as to myself. Every producing company has informed me that my name has 'box office value' and part of the benefit received by such producing company is the right to use, advertise and exploit my name." - Alfred Hitchcock The the film credits or in the 'credits block' on the back cover identify the title as The Birds. Alfred Hitchcock's "The Birds" identifies that the title is the portion in quotes. Gerri, This contribution has been previously approved by you but has disappeared from the system.
