A digital or covert watermark is actually embedded into the code of the graphics file and read with an external program or plugin. One such company that provides covert watermark services is Digimarc.

Hmmmm, so altering the file probably wouldn't it then.

What if you were to change a Jpeg to a Gif or something like that?

I'm not fimailar with code so I honestly don't know what parts of it would/could change with what alterations, although common sense tells me that you mean it's buried deep enough to withstand any alterations, like in the 1's and 0's that make the image in the first place.

@Addicted3DVD
Just finished watching 30 Days of Night. I was actually pretty good.
I recomend it to any horror buff'

Rory

I watched 30 Days of Night last night and I really enjoyed it too.  Melissa George was pretty good and for once Josh Harnett didn't overact much.  As rorymatt said, it's a must have for horror/vampire buffs.

OK... here is a first... at least as far as I have seen...

Someone claiming they rescanned back cover of Goosebumps: Chillography..

Their Notes:
Quote:
rescanned back cover also

But what it actually is... is dvdempire's back scan with the watermark whited out..

His supposed scan:

DVD Empire Back Cover:

So I voted with that reason.

Well it has now been changed to what looks like a good rear cover scan. but Unfortunately I still had to vote no since he says he scanned both front and back... and the back looks good... but the front is about half the size of the current and less then half the size of the contributed back scan... plus front scan don't look nearly as good even as far as colors showing differently. So there was no way I saw to vote yes on it.

That is just sheer laziness. Put a white block over it? That looks nice and doesn't stand out!

Use the clone stamp in photoshop and erase it completly. Don't have PS? You can easily do the same thing with paint. It looks like paint may've been used for the white-out anyway. I think paint comes standard on every computer, although PS is better.

I've had to do this to many poster scans from moviegoods. I love movie posters, but can't afford to buy everything. So I do the next best thing and find a small digital version to look at now and then, or make wallpaper from, etc. Often times for older flicks I can only find them on MG which watermarks everything, so I started painting them out but then discovered PS which makes for even easier and better touch-ups. I wouldn't do it for scans to submit here though as the res. is too low to begin with. If my scanner/printer goes down, I stay away from submitting covers.
