but you're changing the title to get to that conclusion. Its not Step up to the streets. Its Step Up 2 The Streets. It takes place on the streets its about street dancing (hence an episode descriptor). Its no different than Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan or Superman IV: The Quest for Peace. (edit as Unicus pointed out its a number because its a series. 2 = two, not to. those are two different words)

I'm not changing a thing. The title is presented as "step up 2 the streets" in every official source I can find. Simply saying that "'the streets' is in a smaller font therefore it is a subtitle" is missing the point. It's NOT the same as the examples you cite, for the reasons I have already given; it's presented as a phrase on the rear cover, it's spoken as that phrase by the cast and crew in the extras, and the BVHE site lists it without a colon. It's just not an episode descriptor.

Quote:
The back is irrelevant, unless you are now saying that the Colon between Episode I: The Phantom Menace (and the other episodes) should be removed because they are written without a colon on the back cover (which is still irrelevant because the rule doesn't say 'take the title from the front cover unless the back cover allows for a different interpretation). (Actually, not trying to bring up old wars, but per the front cover its Star Wars: I: The Phantom Menace but it says Episode I on the back)

Other places (do a google search) list it with the colon as well. But that is actually irrelevant to our purpose as well.

That's also a questionable comparison. Although there is no colon in that place on the rear covers for the prequel trilogy, each of them lists the title of the particular episode in full capitals where the "Episode N" part is normally capitalised. Besides, the back cover in those examples IS irrelevant, as the title given there doesn't match the front at all (also not trying to open that debate again, btw!

Who's "WE", Skip? Yesterday everyone is the "thought police" and today you stand as spokesperson?

All you have to do is read and folloiw the rules andd vote accordingly. This is not the first time you have tried to twist something. and propably won't be the last either,

I have found sources that show it is a subtitle.

I think the problem here is that the title is obviously meant to be a play on words. It can be read as both a sequel (Step Up 2: The Streets) and as a full phrase (Step Up to the Streets).
Nadja, do you have any links to these official sources? I tried, but the only "official" link I found didn't seem to be up and running any more.

Edit: and how about you quit the personal insults Skip? Nadja has a different opinion, that's all. Or were you twisting things when you refused to accept Sandra Bullock [Ida Flammenbaum] as Herself?

This is a public forum - you want people to stay out of it, you make it PRIVATE.

And I know it's a really, really tiny clue - but Nadja is female.

Edit: oooh, what a surprise, my post before this one has received a single red arrow. These abuses of the reputation system are absolutely rampant. Obviously someone on this forum is trying to suppress free speech and independent thought.

When did I deny that it's a sequel? Seriously, Skip, you do know that you can't make things true just by shouting them the loudest, right? Also, you really should avoid phrases like "combative nature" when you decide to start chucking insults about. I notice that once again I've posed you a single question and instead of answering it you've decided to lay into not just me, but anyone who doesn't just lay down and die.

A couple, North. Aside from the overview and credits block on the case itself (which for me seals the deal), there's
BVHE Blu-ray - that's the text version, obviously the flashy version won't allow links. I dunno how official
Apple trailers is, although most places seem to regard the
MySpace as being the official site, which has in the middle "Step Up 2 the Streets is the smash hit sequel blah blah blah overrated tripe".

Although once again I will state that I am male. I know the nick misleads but I've never identified myself as female.

Well there was this school play... mmm sequins

I didn't shout anything, Nadja. the rules tell us how to handle this title. It is very simple but you have decided you want it some other way, as usual. I did NOT make any kind of atck upon any of your previous comments. Your FIRST comment which you directed at me was insulting. Why are you always trying to manipulate the database to yoiur ends. Unicus' assessment of this title is absolutely correct, the Rules tell us how to handle such titles, they also do not tell us to go ANYWHERE beyonfd the front cover, unlike James' comment relative to the credit block, all you have to do is follow the Ru;les and stop trying to have it your way. Your way is for your local and in that arena...I don't care and never will.

That's two questions you've dodged now. I shan't bother with a third, we all know what will happen.

I haven't dodged anything, Nadsja. You are completely ignoring the Rules and trying to enter all kinds of side references which the Rules do not allow and are thus completely irrelevant. Take the title from the Front Cover PERIOD, there is no posssessive involved therefore the credit block used for Possessive data is irrelevant and your outside references are irrelevant. Profiler's Rules say to take the title from the Front Cover only, they also tell us how to deal with series titles. You simply want to do it some way other than what Profiler's Rules say to do and are trying to introdce various forms of extarneous data, which are NOT allowed for in this instance, to try an support your claim, I deal strictly with whatr the Rules say to do, not with what you want the to do for YOU...that is for your local. Your points have been answered, perhaps not as you wanted but they have been answered.

Looking at those sites, I can certainly Nadja's point - it is referred to as Step Up 2 The Streets an awful lot. However, there still is the occasional reference to Step Up 2, which leaves me undecided.

I will say though that what we are looking for is not the name of the movie, but the name of the DVD, and it does seem clear to me that Step Up 2 is given much more prominence on the front cover than The Streets. This suggests that on the front cover at least, The Streets is seen as a subtitle, not part of the title.

But seeing how I don't own this title, nor am I ever likely too, I think it only fair to bow out as I won't be affected by the outcome and I genuinely believe both titles could been seen to be supported by the rules.

The questions I asked you Skip, are why you think you are a spokesperson, and when I claimed that the film was not a sequel. You've answered neither, you have instead performed the same rant a couple of times, chewed out North, and segued briefly into an irrelevant, blunt and nonapplicable cartoon reference. If you want a dialogue, you have to engage; if you want to rant, go ahead. I've pretty much made my position clear, and I'm not alone in it, so I'm not going to stay here for Skip to exacerbate this further. If there's anything anyone actually wants to add, I'll be back for that.
