I am trying to correct the Blu-Ray of The Scorpion King (025195-039970).
The current profile has Dwayne Johnson (credited as The Rock)
But it should be just The Rock
The CLT Shows
The Rock - 151/345
Dwayne Johnson - 117/182
But I still seem to have people voting No
Any thoughts or help with this

Those who hqave voted no, are wrong and need to reconsider their votes. We are NOT concerned with what someone's "real" name is, but what his MOST COIMMONLY CREDITED name is, which for now is The Rock and Darknite's data is correct as submitted.

Most of those "The Rock" credits are wrestling DVDs. In real movies, he's been creditted as Dwayne Johnson pretty consistently and one list of credits is growing and the other isn't. I think the purpose of the rule is a legitimate area of discussion here.

Ace:

That's simply not relevant. We don't make any distinction in crediting. If you want to do so locally that is up to you. But Most Commonly Credited means Most Commonly Credited regardless of the venue, be it movie, TV, wrestling or whatever. You can discuss whatever you wish, but it is a local problem and not one for the Online. It would be ridiculous in the extreme to start trying to draw the lines you describe, not to mention utterly confusing for users.

I'm not trying to stir anything up here, just gonna ask a senseible question.

In this case, it's pretty obvilous that Dwayne has started using his real name as he moves deeper into movie acting. Of course right now, "The Rock" will have more credits due to the endless supply of wrestling videos. My question is, when does his real name catch up?

Will all the "credited as" show on a credit look-up, or is he doomed to be "The Rock" forever because the majority of his early dvds had that name and now anything new should read "The Rock", credited as Dwayne Johnson? Or when enough "credited as D.J." finally get submitted and approved, then we go back to all the old videos and "correct" them?

Sometimes the rules and common sense don't play well together.

That would be correct.  This is a deficiency of the current system that I have been pointing out since the original release of this "Credited As" system.  OVer time, the most common "Credited As" name can very well change and that will require that we go back and fix all of the "old" credits.

It is the "Credited As" system itself that has created this problem, more so than the Rules.

That's kinda what I figured, thanks for stating it.
I guess on the flipside of that, the "credited as" will end up saving Dwayne from always being "The Rock" here. He just needs a few more movies and his real name will catch up, then the old ones get re-done and it's a landslide the other way.

Im with hal9g and Skip here.
We should always use the most common credited name, which of course (bad for us all) can change over the years

Important thing not really discussed is How is the name Credited with 'on SCREEN'  credits ??
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

That's why i think there should be a complete cast/crew list for everyones DB instead of just a local one(If i have a movie with John M. Doe, but commonly he's credited as John Doe, and i don't own any movies in which he's credited as such i can never make the link).

Also i think there should be a linking system instead of a alias system: Dwayne Johnson=dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson=The Rock and all movies he's in, regardless of ther credits in any movie, should be linked to him.

Paul:

You have described the simple association system I have supported from Day ONE and before. Unfortunately I fear it's too late to go that way now, unless Ken wanted to take the unpopular of scrapping the existing system and starting over. I can hear some users screaming just at the thought.

Personally I would love to see him start over and try what you are describing... but like you... I don't see it happening now.

Well if something doesn't work you should correct it. And the longer you wait the harder it gets.
