Two days ago we finally got the new Panasonic BD Models in Stock. So I immediately bought the 80 model.
I set it up and began watching "Max Payne". Only problem, the sound had dropouts every few minutes. So I tried a few more discs and 3 of the 10 I tried had the same problem. Since there was no firmware update available I took it back the next day. Now I got the Pioneer BDP-51FD. That one works out just fine. It doesn't have all the fancy Profile 2.0 options but who needs them anyway.

So, if you are considering one of the new Panasonic Models, I would wait for the first FW Update.

BTW: I tried the same Disc (Max Payne) on the Model we had on Display at the store. Same problem at the exact same points in the movie!

Sorry to hear of your problems. I've been thinking about upgrading my "old" BD30 to something newer. I've just checked and a new firmware was released yesterday - http://panasonic.jp/support/global/cs/bd/download/bd80/bd80_euro.html. All they say in the notes though is "BD-V Playability"
