When I try and install dvdpro mobile, it gets as far as installing the .net stuff and then fails with the following message :-

Application Manager cannot install this application on your mobile device due to an invalid setup file. Reinstall and try again.

Needless to say, I've tried reinstalling, redownloading etc etc.

I did however notice something that could be related.

If you download the .zip file rather than the .exe (I did try both by the way), the zip file has its own readme file which says  the following :-

DVD Profiler Release Notes

Version: 1.2.0, Build 126
Date:    November 11, 2008

REQUIREMENTS:

DVD Profiler Mobile requires:

- DVD Profiler version 3.5.0 or higher for synchronization

- Microsoft Active Sync version 4.2 or higher
  -OR-
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.0 or higher (on Vista)

- A Windows Mobile device with one of the following:
  - Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC
  - Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC SE
  - Windows Mobile Version 5 Professional or Classic
  - Windows Mobile Version 6 Professional or Classic

However, if after installation you view the readme file, you get a different readme fille which says :-

DVD Profiler Release Notes

Version: 1.2.0, Build 126
Date:    November 11, 2008

REQUIREMENTS:

DVD Profiler Mobile requires:

- DVD Profiler version 3.5.0 or higher for synchronization

- Microsoft Active Sync version 4.2 or higher
  -OR-
Windows Mobile Device Center 6.0 or higher (on Vista)

- A Windows Mobile device with one of the following:
  - Pocket PC 2002
  - Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC
  - Windows Mobile 2003 for Pocket PC SE
  - Windows Mobile Version 5.0 for Pocket PC

And the different is the supported devices. In my case, my ipaq is Pocket PC 2002. So, one of the readme files says it works and the other doesn't.

Obviously it used to work with the previous version, but now it doesn't

What version of MS Active Sync are you using? I am using 4.5.0 on my XP SP2.

What version of .NET Compact Framework (CF) is running on your PDA (to be found on your PDA under Start -> Settings -> System -> Remove Programs
It has to be version 2.0

Alternately, you can copy the CAB file from your PC to the device and install it that way.  In essence, that's exactly what ActiveSync does.

Where is the cab file located? I searched under Programs/DVD Profiler and there is no cab file anywhere? I am hoping to keep the cab file in my external store as backup.

Did you install it on your PC?  Running through the mobile install program (note - it's a separate install from DVD Profiler), the default installation directory with default windows directories for XP is "C:\Program Files\DVD Profiler Mobile".

Try pasting "%programfiles%" into the location bar in Windows Explorer and hit enter.  That will take you to your Program Files directory on your computer no matter what it happens to be called.  Then look for "DVD Profiler Mobile".  If you don't see it, reinstall the mobile version.

Opps! I already have the cab file and installed the mobile version via cab. No wonder it's not on my PC. Now I am thinking hard where I got the cab installer from???
