| | Posted: | | | | I just picked up a Magnavox 32MF338B/27for my parents for Christmas. I got it at a pawn shop and it did not have a remote. I tried a universal remote, but it seems hardly any have a screen format button. This TV doesn't seem to have any way to change the format without the remote. A new remote woudl cost $30. Are there any cheap universal remotes with a screen format button? |

| | Posted: | | | | I don't know if that's what you mean, but with the Logitech Harmony you can use all the button that used to be on the original remote, that includes aspect ratio/screen format. |

If you could find a cheaper universal you wouldn't save much, and chances are it would be a perfect match like replacing the original one would be. The only other thing I can think of is the cable remote may do the trick. I know any I've had in the past few years will operate the TV. They also have their own aspect ratio button on them (but it doesn't change the TV, just the signal from the cable box). Kudos on the nice present for your parents  |

Ritch Also have a OneForAll. Works good and i think it's not too expensive. |

I ended up getting a Philips Prestigo 8008 because it can learn new functions without needing an original remote to copy from. Also, this is for a Magnavox TV and the Philips remotes should all work out of the box. Although the high end OneForAll looks possibly better (more buttons, same price). I've contacted the seller to see if I can cancel. |

I've contacted the seller to see if I can cancel. Well, my Logitech learns functions without the original as well, since the original TV remote disappeared after I moved into the new house. The Logitech easily found the remote on the Logitech website. |

They love them some logitech.  I also bought a pair of refurbished 670s for my siblings as stocking stufffers this year. SHHHHHHHH don't tell them.  |
