I'm really sorry for that
But Apple is so slow at the moment... I send my update 1 week ago and no new. (last time update took 2 days)

For Child profiles, it's an another story
I will try to manage wish list first.

Any sign of an update for this yet. It's unusable at the moment.

Also does anyone know a way of stopping the child profiles I don't want to appear on my online collection from appearing so that My Movies (when it is working again) doesn't pick them up.

Example: I pretty much only want each season of The A-Team I have to appear not the individual discs to.

My own resolution to this issue was to flag what I didn't want on the app (or in my online collection, for that matter) and then use the "Set Exclusions" option for all flagged.  That did the trick.  Depending on how much you want to keep from that list, though, it can be a bit of work.

Samuel, I've used your app since you launched it and look forward to the update.  For me it worked on iOS 4 pretty well except it was a bit crashier at first and I lost the letters on the right for fast scrolling.  That latter detail and the silence led me to purchase another app to replace it, though.  That app is much more difficult to upload the collection, but now meets my needs.  That said, I do look forward to seeing what you've cooked up in the update(s).

Yes, I hope it's better now...

But to retrieve the first letter section, you have to reset data and re-download your collection
And with iOs4 download is stop when application is on background.

For IronWaffle, I'm sorry for that. It's true that I didn't make a lot of update, but I alway reply to all email/messages.. I do my best but My Movies Rack are not my full time job you know.
What is the name your new application ? Maybe I can get good ideas

And I always wait for a real DVDProfiler iPhone application by Invelos.
With Invelos API, I sure we can do a realy good application ! (I asked them to use it.. but no answer)

I never got an answer about the API either.

The background downloading may work if you implement the multi-tasking functionality. From my understanding, it's not automatically added.

Another suggestion is to create a sort title field in your database and set it to the movie title with common prefixes removed.

That way, the movies A Bugs Life and The Beastmaster are listed in the B section.

It's not a hard fast rule because sometimes it isn't removed like in The Time Machine but it seems like it's somewhat not too common.

I appreciate the apology, but it really isn't necessary.  If iOS4 hadn't broken the indexing in your app I'd have held out longer.  Still, I don't regret spending on your app and wouldn't discourage others from checking it out.

As to what I switched to, it's made by Netwalk.  How I'd compare it...

1.  The biggest benefit of your app is the simplicity of setting it up.  Netwalk required all sorts of exporting, converting, reformatting, editing, zipping, unzipping, etc.  It made me appreciate all the more how easy it is to get a collection into your app.  (In fact, I bought their app a month or so ago and was so daunted I gave up until this weekend, but the scrolling issue which you have since fixed made it too difficult to use your app.  I'm glad to see this morning that your update came through!)

2.  Netwalk's app offers more appearance options, though on an iPod Touch/iPhone the list view which looks like yours is the easiest to use.  So it's kind of a useless bell & whistle (though it does have some nice graphics).

3.  Netwalk's app lets you change the images and they size properly where on your app they are stretched.  This doesn't matter to me, but may to others.  It also has coverflow, but it's buggy on iOS4

4.  Their app imports your ratings and some cast/crew info.  None is clickable or searchable, though, so it's of limited use.

5.  Their app automatically ignores the "A", "An" and "The" in front of titles.  You're supposed to be able to add other words (like La, El, Il and other foreign articles) to their ignore list, but I find it only crashes the app.

6.  Have I mentioned what a pain the butt it was to set up Netwalk?  On the plus side, going forward I can add titles directly to it and avoid all that hassle.  But now it's like maintaining two databases.  Another drawback of their software.

That's what comes to mind.  For what it's worth, I stumbled over this site yesterday:  http://appadvice.com/appguides/show/apps-for-movie-cataloging.  Of those apps, I did get a free copy of iCollect Movies, it's most highly recommended (gotta love macrumors app board!) but they don't offer any support for DVDProfiler importing, so even though it looks pretty great, it's starting from scratch.

It went fine for me. But then I had only three profiles in there since the last update failed.

A Bug's Life sorts fine for me... Can't tell for Beastmaster right now, as the import stopped two thirds in as the iPhone went into stand by

EDIT:
Ah, I see it now. Actually 90% of my collection is before A
Samuel, is that something that could get fixed by completely restarting...?

Yes I think you need to reset your database.

I coded it in last version, but I make a mistake and it's not in 1.2.0
I published maybe to fast for iOS4.

it's time to work for a 2.0 version !
I will work for a better user experience.
Please do not hesitate to send me screen proposals.

And a big question : do I make an application just for DVD Profiler (and no more for imdb)
It's easier to manage type (DVD, Blue-Ray..) and lists.
But new application = new payment .. maybe add an iPad version to justify this price..
And I don't want troubles with Invelos...

But first of all I need time to work on it...

I just downloaded your update and had some new titles to add to the list so reset the list...now my letter selection on the right side is gone.  It seems to "hang" for a long time about half way through the resetting process but then when it ends, the list is there, but the letter jump isn't.  I can scroll through it, but that takes forever when you're looking for something in the "s"s.  I've powered down by iTouch and tried again.  Same results.

Am I doing something wrong to reset it?

I deleted it to reinstall as you suggested, but now the application is saying it's 1.99 again.  Will I be charged if I download again?

No, you shouldn't be charged.  The app store won't indicate it, but you can be sure of it.  Whether through iTunes or on your iPhone you should get a pop-up saying you won't be charged after you've clicked.

I wish they'd change that, though.  A customer shouldn't have to feel nervous about re-downloading or accidentally mis-buying something.

Thanks! I've never redownloaded something before so I didn't know about that little quirk. I agree...It did make me hesitate. I know that I do have it backed up on another computer, so I figured I could get the old version back, so wasn't too worried, but that's very not customer friendly of Apple!

Looks like deleting and redownloading the program worked for me.  The letters on the side came back and now I'm not having a problem resetting the information to add new profiles.  Though, I have the same problem as the others...now, the alphabetizing is including articles (the especiallly).  Also, I noticed that when I do reset the information, the "are you sure" pop up screen hangs for a good 40 secs to a minute before finally activating.

Anyone else notice this?
