Correct...and a huge  for this Ken.

Does this apply to existing data or do we have to look forward to users making contributions making this change.

We indeed have to look forward to users making loads and loads of contributions as a result of this change.

God, I hope NOT. Some don't need a further excuse to inflate their Contributions that they can brag about.

Oh great so now instead of going with whatever the CLT name is, in one case De Banzie (de Banzie), we have a user making an undocumented change to de Banzie . How is this going to dealt with, Ken, more runaway undocumented changes. If the CLT name is De Banzie then so should it be, it should NOT be changed to de Banzie. In short the CA is now, without documentation) overriding what the CLT result is.

How would you determine that "CLT name" you refer to? Seeing as the CLT doesn't differentiate? Dare I ask what the credits show?

I am jsttrying tom figure out how this is SUPPOSED to be, Tim, not how you think it is. I see your change of De Banzie (de Banzie) to just de Banzie,  admittedly the credit reads de Banzie. But as you have noted the CLT does not take capitalization into account and the CLT says De Banzie. My understanding is that this would be an incorrect change as you are making a change based on capitalization yourself. In short, you seem to be going against intent at the very least. This is why i think this change should be made globally by Ken, and the result is what it is, the change is yours to make locally. You said yourself that the CLT ignores capitalization so the CLT is what it is. This another case where your notes are inadequate...you claim to be just following Ken's directive when you are not. You did not state the Actual credit says de Banzie. It seems to me that if you were following Ken's directive, then the CA should be the same as the CLT which in this case is De Banzie, and the de Banzie change while legitimate is local.

Maybe I am missing something, but i want Ken to clarify it.

I am not even sure why this is an issue.  As has been said, many times, the CLT ignores capitalization.  Not only that, but the program does as well.  If you have Devito, and I upload DeVito, and it gets accepted, and you download it, you will still have Devito.

Using credited as, in these situation, has never made any sense...at least it hasn't to me.  It is unfortunate that those people who, in my opinion, went off the reservation might be inconvenienced.  Maybe Ken could run a filter, through the main db, that would remove all the credited as entries where the only difference is capitalization.
