Well looks like I found another can of worms and I just don't know what to do,, Editing my profiler list and ran across the Producer for this 1970 film (Mccabe & Mrs Miller) as David Foster, even the head shot was that super star music producer, who was born in 1949 .)
So where oh where should I start to look for this? ,, 'oh Yeah .. first choice IMDB'  and sure enough there are three David Fosters .. Since we don't and can't use IMDB.., I'm just going to trust my judgements and lock off the title under what I feel this should be credited as.. ( Born YoB 1930 )  and  will just post this so some of you can tackle this by yourself or share your findings with us ....

Who says we "don't and can't use IMDb"?  IMDb, along with another source, is fine to use for this information.

The only "can't use IMDb" that I am aware of is copying their cast/crew. They have never been disallowed as a source from Invelos, unless I missed it.

Indeed - quoting Ken Cole:
Quote:
Allow me to clear up any misconceptions.  We don't have anything against IMDB - in fact the opposite - we have admiration for their efforts and see value in allowing our users quick access via menu option to their site. [...] What we do not allow is submission of data copied from any third party database in violation of that database's policy.  If you would like that policy changed you are welcome to discuss it with those third parties.  In the mean time our hands are tied and we will not be party to what amounts to data theft.

Now, back on topic - I realise there are many more, but these are the three David Foster's in my database:

Canadian composer David Foster (1949) on films like 'St. Elmo's Fire' and 'The Secret of My Succe$s':

American producer David Foster (1930) on films like 'Short Circuit', 'Caveman', 'Running Scared', 'McCabe & Mrs. Miller':

U.K. director David Foster (1931) of TV shows like 'Sapphire & Steel':

Why not? The birth years for both the producer and the composer you were referring to have already been accepted into the database, so you should have no problem whatsoever including them in your contributions.

ok.. good enough for me thanks for the tips.., will proceed .

edit.. and I see too that David Foster (1949)  was one of the three composers for one of the dozen odd music tracks for Ghostbusters, but Only Ray Parker gets billing for the title track.,  Can we also add other composers as well into the Music section?

Let me set the record straight.  I had a PM conversation with Gerri when I started the Birth Year thread.  I asked about IMDb, as a source for BYs.  She said that it was fine, as long as there were other sources that confirmed it.  It can NOT, however, be the only source.
No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever.
There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom.
Against this power, governments and tyrants and armies cannot stand.
The Centauri learned this lesson once.
We will teach it to them again.
Though it take a thousand years, we will be free.

This would be true for any third party source. (IMHO)

That all depends on how they're credited on-screen. I don't doubt the information given in the MichaelDVD.com.au-review that you've provided, but we don't profile that. We profile what's on the disc. And on the disc, only Elmer Bernstein is credited with a "Music By" credit. So only he gets the "composer" credit. I'm sure that Bobby Alessi and David Foster provided additional music, but if they're not credited on-screen with a role that qualifies for our "composer" credit, then we currently don't track them - not in the online database at least. So no, they cannot be contributed as composers for 'Ghostbusters'.

Ray Parker, Jr. is credited for writing the (original) 'Ghostbusters' song, which gets him a "song writer" credit.
