I've recently purchased some Blu-rays of Twentieth Century Fox's Limited Cinedition (e.g. Predator, Predator 2, Predators).
I wanted to scan the covers but should i use the small slip covers ... or use the slip cover only for the back!?

According to the rules we should use slip covers. But I'm not sure in this special case of slip cover...

My initial reaction is to just advice you to follow the rules and use the slip cover, but I'm not familiar with the Limited Cinedition. What about it makes it a special case?

Do the films perhaps have the same UPC as the existing non-slip releases? If this is the case, I believe they count as re-releases, and as such the old scans should remain.

Could you provide a pic?

Haven't seen them, but I think it's a completely clear slip cover, with just the rating logo?

Since there is no exceptions listed in the rule... I would go by it for all contributions and voting.

Hmm... since it's a transparent slip cover, simply scanning it seems kinda silly. I think I'd scan the slip cover with the case inside it, thereby getting an image that represents what you'd see if you were holding the Blu-ray in your hand.

It's no transparent slip cover, it's just not a complete seize slip cover (front is about 1/3 of the digibook's height and back is about 2/3). So I would scan the slip cover with the digibook in it.

Ah. Well, my previous recommendation still stands then. Meaning, scanning the slip cover with the case inside.

Defintly scan them with slips on, unless they are re-issues with the same UPC as previous releases, which I imagine would have a different cover already submitted. If same UPC, original scan rule applies.

If the slip cover from the front would just add the rating logo, it would Ok, to leave it out for the front. but sadly it doesn't.

So for online the scan hast to be with slip.

Sorry when I dig out this old one, but because of actual contributions I had to do this.

In my opinion this is not a slip cover when I examine the fox cineditions. A slip cover should be like a "second skin" for the dvd/bd-packaging, covering the whole box and this is not. In fact, 1/3 of the front cover picture couldnt even be seen, wenn you scan it with this - I call it so - secondary packaging.

same for the paramount steelbooks: for example "zombieland" and "distrcit 9"were sold with this "half-on-front" sleeve, but the scans in the database show the "naked" front cover without this sleeve (even it's also not in the profile, saying just "steelbook").
and now the scans for "salt" and "karate kid" are i the database with this sleeve. I think we need a extra rule for this, or the discussion sleeve or no sleeve is going further.

IMHO the front covers should be scanned without the half-slip-cover.
thanks for reading and best regards!

I have a handful of dvds with similar "partial slipcovers" like the Toho Master Collection Godzilla movies and Gwendoline, all have the partial slip in the scans. It's still part of the packaging and what you'd see in the store.

I started to add my scans, which might be not allowed in the main database, to Mithi's alternate cover site:
http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=506470

I contribute the scan which is the one according the rules and add the alternate scan to this site. (Which I also add in my contribution notes)
At the weekend I could do it for "Königreich der Himmel".
