My laptop travels back and forth from my workplace to my home and hence is assigned a different IP in each location. It would be nice if I could setup specific IP's in the DVD Profiler iOS for a specific database.

Forgive me if I do not follow your request, i'm assuming that your Profiler is on the laptop that you are moving back and forth. So when you get home you plug it in and your DHCP server in your router assigns it an arbitrary address. How would being able to assign an IP in Profiler help you. If the address of the PC changes dynamically how many address would you need to progam Profiler for?

I'm not asking to setup an IP in Profiler (desktop version).
BUT - My DHCP server tends to give me the same adress at home when I log on - or at least I can assign that manually. And it looks the same for my work network. But the two networks are structured differently. Could obviously restructure the home network to match - but too much stuff attached.
Another option would be the possibility to have Profiler iOS auto detecting the Desktop version and setting the connection.

Did you try using the name of the computer instead of the IP adress, maybe that would work. I tried it on my network and it did not but everybody's setup is different.

Unfortunately using the computer name didn't work for me either.

One thing I was thinking about, which may also work for soulgazer and others.

My computer with the desktop version stays put, however my iPhone of course moves.

What I would like to see is a way to configure access to the same desktop database via wireless (on the same local network) as well as a configuration when on 3G.

That way when I am at home and want to update, it would be much faster as the iPhone would be accessing the desktop locally vs going out to the internet then back in. Yet would still work without having to change all the settings when on 3G.
