Windows Live Mesh has a feature that will sync data and/or folders between any/all your computers. For example I use it to keep the IE "Favorites" and Outlook "Signitures in-sync between 2 Windows 7 computers.

I have DVD Profiler installed on both computers as well. I want to use Live Mesh to keep the "My Documents" folder on both computers in sync as well.

My question is that DVD Profiler creates a folder in the My Documents folder.  If that DVD Profiler gets synced back and forthe between the 2 PCs, will that keep the 2 copies of DVD Profiler in sync? or, will it corrupt the databse and screw everything up?

Syncing between two machines works just fine.  I do it regularly between my desktop and laptop.

I sync manually and make sure i am never working on Profiler on both machines simultaneously and that the software is not when i sync (My sync software won't sync open files).

And doing regular back ups is also part of the plan to keep me out of trouble.

I run full image backups nightly using an HP MediaSmart (WHS) server.

I never use DVD Profiler on both PCs at the same time. In fact, I almost never use it at all on my Netbook now that I have it on my iPad.
About the the only reason I even fire it up on the Netbook any more is to sync it (currently I keep the 2 PCs in sync by uploading the "master" to the web and then downloading from the web to the Netbook).

I was hoping that Live Mesh syncing of the MyDocuments folder (which included the DVD Profiler DB files) would eliminate that need and just keep the Netbook in sync with the main PC.

The only problem I see is that since Live Mesh is a "live" sync (i.e. syncing in real time as files are changed) is as you say, what happens when it tries to sync the files while they are open??

Since I have backups,  I guess it won't hurt anything to find out.

UPDATE:

Okay, I went ahead and added the MyDocuments folders (including the DVD Profiler folded inside the MyDocuments folder) to my MS Live Mesh syncing between my 2 PC.

So here are the results:
I opened DVDP on the main system, browsed around  bit, made a couple of changes and downloaded all updates from Invelos (profiles and images). All the while I saw no Live Mesh syncing activity. However once I closed DVDP Live Mesh came alive on both PCs and immediately started syncing the changes.

I waiting until all syncing activity had completed an then opened DVDP on the Netbook.
Perfect!!
All the changed I had made were present and when I attempted to get profile and image updates from Invelos none were available.

Clearly some setting are kept in another location, because I use different layouts on the 2 PCs due to their differing screen resolutions. I half expected DVDP on the Netbook to open up with the same layout I use on the main PC. But it didn't happen. The Netbook continued to use the custom layout I created for the small resolution Netbook screen.

This is correct.  My desktop always knows its layout and the laptop knows its own layout.  Presumably these settings are in the Registry or the Documents and Settings/Users folder somewhere.

Glad it works for you.
