Hi All

Just discovered DVD Profiler and I think I used the free version for about 5mins before upgrading!

The software is awesome for the money and within a few hours I have 200 DVDs and BluRays catalogued

Just one thing...

Is there a way I can change some of the names of the discs for sorting purposes

I don't want to change the filenames, there are just a few I would like to tweak so that the A-Z matches the way I have chosen to store them in my CaseLogic DVD wallets

e.g. I have all of the new Doctor Who series' and I want to ammend the order slightly so I can have the series in order and then have the specials etc. to appear at a slot of my own choosing

DOH!

That would be the "Sort Title" then!

This software is freakin' awesome

It does exactly what it says on the time and the upgrade is well worth it

I hope to contribute to the community by uploading some of my more obscure DVD info but I need to work out what to put in the video format

Thanks again for the software and I hope my stoopid question helps someone else!

Welcome!

Fair warning... once getting started with DVD Profiler you tend to buy more DVD/BluRays just so you can enter them into profiler!

Hi,

Welcome to the forums!

You will find that DVDP can be customized to fit your needs very easily.

To get your local database to sort the way you want it you will need to Edit the DVD.

Open the database and go to the DVD you want to change.

At the top of the page (under collection) touch the fourth icon from the left. This should then open a window that says "Edit Profile".

Or you can go to the top of the page and touch "DVD" which is the third from the left. This will also open a window and allows you to do a bunch of things. Edit Profile is one of them.

Once you hit the button to "Edit Profile" a page opens up. Go to "Sort Title".

Change this to however you want your DVD to be listed. Then, on the lower right, hit "OK".

Do this for each of the DVDs you want to change.

After this is done go to the top of the page again but this time touch "Collection".

Another window will open. About half way down go to "Reassign Collection Numbers".

Touch "Reassign all collection numbers" then under Order by touch "title" then "OK".

This should take care of it for you.

There are lots of different things in the database to make things exactly the way you want. Play around with it and if you have any questions be sure to ask.

I've been here years and it is amazing how many new things I learn the program can do.

Good luck!

Edit: I see you found it while I was rambling on.

Thanks Kathy

I didn't know about the "Reassign Collection Numbers" bit - that could be useful to keep things in a more definite order

You're welcome.

If you don't mind sharing - upload your DVD collection online so that I can take a peek at your movies.

Welcome to the Asylum, Boydie!

Regarding video format: the information on DVD covers on video formats is notoriously unreliable, so you're more likely to get it right if you check for yourself. You might check out this thread.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask in the forums.

Regarding your DVD wallets: in the Personalize DVD menu there is the possibility (left bottom) to enter a location and slot for each disc in your collection. This will however only work if the profile in question contains one or more individual disc ID's.

Enjoy the programme!

You don't actually need a Disc ID (some copy protected DVDs can't be read in a PC), just a Disc Description. And in case of e.g. a box, you can even leave or make that empty too, after applying "Add Disc" at least one.
