Is it possible to paste cast/crew into a profile WITHOUT deleting the existing data, i.e. having the pasted cast/crew appear at the bottom of the cast/crew list, after the existing data? If not, I would like to see this as a feature in a later version of DVDProfiler!

I was about to put in a request for this.  I came across it last night.  I want to add the cast for the Battle Royale 1 and 2 (just realized I have to make some corrects and resubmit because it just dawned on me that it is a box set).  Anyways.  I verified the cast list from an existing Battle Royale profile.  Created a divider for Battle Royale 1 and pasted in the cast info.  But do thing deletes and doesn't append the data.

This featue is one you would have to be careful with or you could end up with duplicate cast info.

Yeah, I agree with this, it would be useful to be able to clone specific data in cast and crew in TV series.

Paste the existing crew into notepad, manipulate as required, copy it all back in DVD Profiler. Seems to work with my limited testing (one actor copied and modified).

Unacceptable on principle. I should not have to use an external program to accomplish something internal to Profiler.

It is a workaround, nothing more nothing less. We fully agree the option should be moved into DVD Profiler, but we can as well inform people of a solution that helps them a bit on the way. Personally I would make less mistake using a method like this, than if I had to enter the data manually multiple time. And then I would save some time on top of it (hmm, that's two things, if I could eat it it would have been as good as a kinder egg).

It might be possible to do this though a plugin by the way, but I don't know if it can be integrated enough to be significently better than using Notepad.

I started a new topic about this by accident. This would be an excellent feature to have!
Even better if we could be selective, for example, by selecting a divider and being able to copy & paster everything connected to it, or by using Ctrl+click to select entries, shift+click to select a range etc.

Also agreed some sort of individual or selected copying of cast and crew would be useful.  After profiling a couple of TV shows it becomes cumberson to keep entering the same person(s) over and over again.

I've found a little trick to help me on this (not meant to replace the feature request, just another workaround).  Once the name is entered once in the cast list, right click on it and select Find Cast Member.  That will bring the name into view on the left side, highlighted.  You can then drag the name back over to the right side or just click the Assign button.  Still have to re-enter the role, but still cuts down a lot on the typing I have to do.

Only problem is that when you drag the name out of the left window, if the cursor moves past another name there's a chance that that other name will get selected for dragging instead.  Plus it doesn't help with copying blocks of names.

Actually my work around right now is copying the XML data into notepad and copying and pasting the repeated data.  It works but, you have to know a little about XML code otherwise you can easily screw up the work you have entered.

Oh, I do that too, but only when I need to copy large blocks of names.  With a large number of people scattered around episodes in a 'random' fashion, though, the single copy trick works better for me.  Plus I've had the program crash when I pasted in stuff I manipulated in my text editor (and after restarting, pasting in the same exact data and it worked fine, so the data itself wasn't corrupted).

I tried doing that for CREW entries, but when I tried to PASTE the data to the new profile I got an error saying I used an invalid crew title (or something like that).  I tried it with two different profiles and had different crew titles pop up with the error.  Profiler wouldn't let me add just the jobs that were "correct" either.

It worked for CAST data, though.

Turn off word wrap. I was having the same problem with crew lists occasionally, looked at them until I was cross-eyed and even when everything seemed to be perfect, it still would not paste. Turned off word wrap (in notepad) and it worked fine.

I never thought of that, but it sounds like it would work.  I'll try it out tomorrow.  Thanks for the suggestion.
