I'm looking for the common name for American (supervising) sound (effects) editor William/Bill (R.) Dean. One of the people throwing off the raw CLT numbers is a British actor named Bill Dean (1921–2000), whose credits should not be taken into account when determining the sound editor's common name. Note that he's often credited as sound effects editor, which doesn't qualify for entry in DVD Profiler.

BILL R. DEAN (5 titles, 4 confirmed)
- Amazing Journey: The Story of The Who
- Battle in Seattle (confirmed by ateo357)
- The Factory (confirmed by ateo357)
- Prep & Landing (confirmed by greyghost)
- Return to House on Haunted Hill (confirmed by bigdaddyhorse)

BILL DEAN (3 titles, 2 confirmed)
- August: Osage County (confirmed by T!M)
- The Call (confirmed by greyghost)
- Stonehearst Asylum

WILLIAM R. DEAN (2 titles, 2 confirmed)
- The Hunger Games (confirmed by greyghost)
- Winter's Tale (confirmed by ateo357)

INVALID
- Abduction ("Co-Supervising Sound Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- Crank ("Sound Effects Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- The Day the Earth Stood Still ("Co-Supervising Sound Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- Delgo ("Sound Effects Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- Ghost Rider ("Sound Effects Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- Ghost Ship ("Assistant Sound Editor", confirmed by ateo357)
- The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (no credit, confirmed by ateo357)
- The Marine  ("Sound Effects Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- The Matrix Reloaded ("Assistant Sound Design Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- The Matrix Revolutions ("Assistant Sound Design Editor", confirmed by greyghost)
- Selma ("Sound Effects Editor", confirmed by ateo357)
- Thir13en Ghosts ("Second Assistant Sound Editor", confirmed by ateo357)

Bill R. Dean is the common name.

Return to House on Haunted Hill = Bill R. Dean - supervising sound editor

This makes Ghost Ship and Thirteen Ghosts unlikely as I have them both, and no other credits for Mr. Dean under any variant. I even audited 13 Ghosts not too long ago, so very unlikely there!

I've recently audited both films, and no credit for him in my database for either.  So an invalid crew role.

Good idea, we should always add an estimated probability to our confirmations:

> 75%: likely
> 25% <= 75%: could be right, could be wrong - pick one
<= 25%: you better double-check this confirmation
Don't confuse while the film is playing with when the film is played. [Ken Cole, DVD Profiler Architect]

Either you can see a name - 100% - or you can't see it - 0%
No gambling here...
