I do.  But, I tell them to get 3.9.1.  Don't get the 4.0 RC since it appears to have been abandoned...hopefully not for something bad.

Of course.

What I like is that one can add and edit profiles without being connected to the internet at all.
Unlike some where just to view your database an internet connection is required.

Plus the ability to add manual profiles allows me to enter stuff that'll never be released or that I recorded, or even on different formats.

Even if invelos went under the program is still useful.

Of course yes, and I would recommand 4.0. It allows to enter more data than 3.9, and has quite no limitation, since I mainly use it as a "local only" program.

Absolutely, it's still, pound for pound, the best out there. Non-contribute mode might not be ideal, but the software with it's flexibility is. I only use 4.0RC because of the latest features.

Yep. Because I've not found anything better. It still has it's annoyances with calling things and formatting things in profiles how DVDProfiler wants rather then what is correct. The latest one being "Dolby Atmos 3D" - there is no such audio track, it's actually called Dolby Atmos.

Well, the audio format is called Dolby Atmos in the program. 3D is part of the channels field and can be blanked out.

Sure as long as you accept nothing from the online database, unless you don't care about the data in your database or the format use in your database.

The online database can mess completly the hard works used to create better and more complete profiles in your personal database...

Is it that reliable? I ask because I think 3.9 works fine (except for the "credited as" who doesn't work for the crew when you create a profile) and I fear non-sense was added to 4.0 (and I can't check since the update list in the download area is out of date).

I don't know what was all added to 4.0, but I haven't had problems with it. There are a couple little things I've come across, like flag counts not resetting properly, but that will come. The big thing with 4 for me is the addition of 4K/UHD support. If you don't require this and are concerned about bloated features, then maybe stick with 3.9 until 4.0 has had a few bug fix updates.

Absolutely, I still recommend DVD Profiler.  I haven't found any better and I tried numerous DVD cataloging software applications before I found DVD Profiler.  Re: v4.0 (build 1762), I haven't had any issues with this new version whatsoever.  Upgrading was problem-free, just make sure you follow recommended upgrade procedures (db repair, backup).  I like that you can select to update whatever you want to, you can lock aspects of each profile so they won't change, you can preview everything and opt out of whatever updates or parts of updates you don't want for your profiles.

I still have fun with DVD Profiler, tinker with headshots regularly...

Unless you talk about something completly different this is part of DVDP since a long time. I don't trust the new version and I can do that.

4.0 has added a few bells and whistles to the update system, which extend on what was previously already there. I believe being able to ignore just certain birth years of parsing changes (or even applying an updated name parsing to all profiles...?) is among those updates. Nothing essential, since we have coped with what was there for many years, but nice-to-have.

4.0 is running fine. It's been officially released and while there are a few bugs, I don't think you need to be afraid of it. Of course, a 4.0.1 might be released at some point in the near future, squashing those bugs, you might as well hold out until then,

OK make sense since those birth years are annoying since they will appear in all your profiles if you approve the cast or crew by accident even if you don't use one for that person.
