Hey all,
Been using DVD Profiler on my pc for ages now, but recently decided to get the app for my iphone 6plus so I don't double up on my DVD purchases.  Downloaded, installed it, followed all the update information, but it keeps going back to the login page again and again ??
I have tried to update many times now, and have given up and deleted the app altogether now, and resorted to carrying a printout of my collection.
Does anyone have a solution to this problem or can tell me what I'm doing wrong with the phone app please??

That sounds as if your iOS app is somehow not linked to your DVD Profiler license. You might want to contact Invelos support (through the website) to assist you.

I would make sure to port forward on your router to the PC with your Database on it.  For example on my iPhone, it goes to my PC, which is the server and it's on 10.0.0.50, and I'm using port 32847.  Well my router is set to port forward 32847 to 10.0.0.50.

I'm using a iPhone 6 and just updated my Database about 10 minutes ago with a problem and I hadn't done that in MONTHS!!!  Of course DVD Profiler needs to be running on your PC while you're updating.

You would want to lock your PC IP address to your PC's MAC number in your router so that your PC IP address doesn't change.  DHCP in your router will auto assign IP numbers on it's own otherwise.  While you may be 192.168.0.5 one day, another day you could be 192.168.0.8 and if your iOS App is looking for the first number while your PC is really on the second number, it would fail.  If you just forward a port to the first number and it works and then later your PC is at the new number, it'll fail.

For reliability,  I've found over the years to give most of my devices on my network there own Static IP address.  Each device has their own MAC address, both for their wired and wireless Network.  No two are the same on any device.  I've used a number of routers over the years and they can all do this.  Some easier then others.  I don't know what your skill level is.  Don't even know if this will cure your issues.

I wired up my house with CAT6 Ethernet cable.  All going into a 24 port switch.  I rarely have to do anything with it.  Everything just works which is what I like. Reliability and no issues.  None of the Unplugging and Rebooting garbage to get things working again every week.

There's no linking of the iOS app with your PC Licence.  You're buying the App though Apple's Store.  The linking I think was something you did with the old Windows Mobile program which had a licence key like the PC App has.  I used to use that long ago before I got my first iPhone, the iPhone 4.  This is not a issue with the iOS version.  It just sounds like a connection to the server issue (Your Windows PC with DVD Profiler running!).  I had problems at first also when I first starting using the iOS App until I worked it out.

In fact if you go into the Tools Menu of DVD Profiler to Program Registration and click on DVD Profiler for Windows Mobile Key, a Box will pop up saying "DVD Profiler Mobile for Windows Mobile devices (Pocket PC). No key required for our iOS and Android apps.  Are you using DVD Profiler Mobile Yes/No".

There's no Key. There's no linking the 2 programs together though Invelos.  This is just linking the iPhone or Android phone into DVD Profiler Server which is running as the program runs.  It's not any different really then running iTunes on your PC for a server so you can watch your movies that are on your PC or Mac on a AppleTV. Or a Plex Server to run the Plex App on any number of hardware devices.

This is why in general if you have enough skill.  It's not to hard, but you need to learn how to use your Router.  Locking a Static IP address to each of your devices makes a more stable network.  You always know where everything is also. For me, my PC is on 10.0.0.50.  My NAS is 10.0.0.100.  my Tivo Roamio is 10.0.0.200, and the 2 Tivo Mini's are 10.0.0.205 and 10.0.0.210, and so on.  The IP address NEVER change.  When I forward a port to something, I know it's always forwarding the port to the correct device on my network.  About the only things I really don't worry about is my iPhone and iPad.  Things that are Mobile.  Though I COULD assign a static IP address to it's Wireless MAC number.  These MAC numbers look something like 32:12:43:01:22:07.

There are ways to figure out what Mac number goes to which device.  You can generally go into the Network settings on your TIVO or iPhone, etc and see the current IP address being used and the MAC address should be with it on the router, and you can then assign the IP number you wish.  Private Networks generally use 1 of 3 IP address ranges.  192.168.0.0 is the most common, I use the 10.0.0.0 group, there's also 172. something or another.  These are reserved for private Networks.  My Router is 10.0.0.1 and it just goes up from there for me with my Tivo Stream using the highest IP number of my network of 10.0.0.215.    I space things out and group things together.  I'm using a ASUS router where I can give my devices labels also.  I can keep track of who's connected, Bandwidth used and so forth.

For quick access, at least make sure you're connected on the same network and conning to the correct IP number for your windows computer currently.  You also want to make sure there's no firewall blocking the port on you which would cause a connection problem.  Google Windows (Whatever Firewall) and see how to disable it and see if it'll connect then!  Then turn the firewall back on.  You may have to open a port you're using for DVD profiler in the firewall.

Hope this is not to confusing and helps you out, maybe others also.

Hmm, well thanks to you for the reply.
Sorry but I found it to be way too confusing for me to follow, and despite trying to link the iphone6plus to the programme while it was running on my pc, no luck eventuated.
Back to square one for me, and yep am still carrying the paper printout with me.
Thank for the assit though.
Cheers

Have contacted Invelos support a few times now through the website, but have heard nothing back at all..
I guess I'll just wait and see - for now, then will start having a play with more settings on the iphone 6 plus.  Cannot see how it is supposed to be linked though, especially as when I would be using the app, I would not be anywhere near my pc, and in fact that would be turned off anyway ( the pc that is )
Cheers
