@Paul

If it turns out to be a Bootleg it won't be permitted to be entered under the rules anyway.

If on the other hand it turns out to be genuine, then that's a bridge we will have to cross at the time, as you have already discovered the EAN is already assigned to a R2 UK profile.

I'm really sorry to say, but I honestly think you've been sold a pirate DVD there. It's a very well done cover, but there are a number of things on it that just don't ring true:
- I've never seen a UK release with more than one barcode on it. Nor do we use the "proof of purchase" on our covers.
- The run time says 90 mins but the film is 120 mins, I've never seen a cover that far out.
- It has a 1.85 aspect ratio logo, but just to the right it says "presented in 2.35:1 aspect ratio"
- The copyright info at the bottom claims the film is called "Wedding Daze" (or something like that - hard to read)
- on the spine, the Irish "12" logo has a white block around it - a sure sign it's been cut & pasted from elsewhere.

If the barcode number is already used by another title, I would leave it at that. For your own use, if you plan on keeping the dvd - add the genuine UK dvd from the database (5-060116-721355) and use that profile instead for your database. Just remember you won't be able to contribute anything to that profile.

Good spotting northbloke

I have now tried to load the dvd via the disc and have come up with the following.
The dvd is P.S.I love you with an number of E854050950670510 and the 12 fig no is 085391-138624, that came up once I added the info into the program. The main thing I noticed was that the covers are entirely different although the refer to the same film. I have gone one up and borrowed a copy from the local dvd rental and that is nowhere like my copy but like the one from dvd profiler. His copy came from the same people as mine did.and the covers are different so maybe some one may have played about with the covers at the suppliers .When asked I was told it is still in had.

Paul:

Do NOT try and Contribute this disc, it smells to high heaven and based on the fine spotting work of northbloke. I now have no doubt that you have purchased an illegal ciopyof P.S. I Love You, if you wish to keep it that is your business and a LOCAL decision, but do NOT try and Contribute it.

Thanks for your excellent research, North! Completely confirms my original suspicions.

Paul, I would suggest handing over North's list of clues to the company that sold it to you. That should convince them they have been selling you a bootleg.

Thank you all for your assistance. As I said in my last message the dvd's are the same only the covers are different. and that was proved by both coming up with the  same disc info. both disc numbers were E854050950670510 and both said P.S. I Love You. I shall take your advice and not contribute it as it is obvious that the cover is wrong. I will keep you informed as to the outcome of my conversation with the supplier.

Using the magnifier option on my PC I can confirm it does have "Wedding Daze" and also copyrighted to Metro Goldwyn Mayer and 20th Century Fox

As this is getting more complicated that ever I have passed all the info that has come up on this subject on this site to the CEO of the company via the postman and not the computer I have included a copy of the cover which I scanned and of course kept the original for further use if needed.Again I thank you for your assistance and will keep you informed of the outcome via this link.

The first part of this message is to Astrakan. As this is the first time I have had problems with this company I, at the moment do not think it is permanent to name the company especially as they are still looking into the matter. If when I receive the message from them I am not satisfied I will most definitely tell you.

What happened with this? Did you get a satisfactory answer? I'd still like to know the name of the company. If you don't feel comfortable posting it here for the world to see, would you mind PMing me?
