He might also be willing to build them to custom sizes depending on how many DVDs you wanted to hold. But if he builds them, they will be "naked"...he says it is too much trouble to stain them without a dust-free stain room and he is just doing this in his garage. Shipping would probably be something like LTL Yellow Freight or a moving company...UPS isn't going to touch something this massive. If anyone wants to design and build their own and just wants to ask for some pointers on everything we learned building mine, let me know. I think we found just about all the bad/wrong ways to go about it. Please do post a contact email and/or mailing address for the builder. I am definitely interested in getting a set of plans and list of materials. |

| Posted: | | | | I have talked to the guy that built my cabinet. All he currently had were some notes and sketches we made on how to do certain pieces we though would be tough (like mounting the rails). He is putting together something closer to a how-to including considerations for scalilng it smaller/bigger. Once he is done, he will host it somewhere some people can download it for free. It may take him a while to get everything put together to where it is useful to others. At least he is willing to post it for free once it is in some usable state. |

I've had my eye on those for a while now. I've love to get something like that, but my wife really wants something with doors on it. Out of sight and all that. Anyway 8ball, what do you think of them? Regardless of my wife's opinion, I might have to go with something like that eventually just because there's nothing with doors I've found that can hold the same amount. Do you have any pictures you can post? I've love to see them in a real environment loaded with real movies. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. I suppose if the doors were light enough but the verticals are only 1/2 inch wide so that would be difficult. It's also particle board which has a tendancy to split easily if you aren't carefull. They are not that deep and need to be anchored to the wall (anchor strap is screwed to the back of the case then screwed into the wall at a stud location). The two I purchased are all ready filled and I'm considering getting another . I'll post some detailed pictures tonight when I get home. | | | My WebGenDVD online Collection |

| Posted: | | | | My wife doesn't want to add doors to the model you have. She wants to find a solution that already has doors. We have a beautiful cabinet currently that closes and looks very nice. But we outgrew it a loooong time back and I now have DVDs stuffed everywhere. That what I like about those. They would really help out. | | | Get the CSVExport and Database Query plug-ins here. | Posted: | | | | I've made some pretty major changes to my little home theater over the last month:
TV - Toshiba 47HL167 DVD - Oppo DV-981HD HD DVD - HD-A2 (should be arriving in the next week or so) Receiver - Panasonic SA-HE100. This is 3-4 years old. I'lll be upgrading to a newer HDMI model once I pay off some of the TV & HD DVD player. The TV has 3 hdmi inputs. Right now the Oppo, cable & the hd dvd player will be hooked up to the TV for video by hdmi...and audio output to my receiver. I'll upgrade so I can run the hdmi connections through the receiver and cut down on some of the wires. Speakers - Polk 5.1 setup. Not sure of the model #'s. I also have an older (meaning 5+ year old) Sony VCR. | | | Last edited: by flyersfan |
