What if there is one episode without cast except for the main cast? Should we still add a divider for that episode?  I've tried both with and without a divider and I can't decide what I  like most. If we go with the divider, it lists an empty episode. If we leave it out, it looks like we forgot that episode

I answered this somewhere else, reybr. I would say include the Episode Divider, but it will be empty thereby informing the user that ONLY opening credit people appeared in that Episode.

But you are correct Space Freak, Option 2 is the MOST accurate.

Sorry Skip, I didn't see that answered anywhere

But that was the choice I've settled with for now

EDIT: Found it in the rules forum, which I didn't have access to at the time I posted

Option 2 for me. "Main cast", "recurring cast" etc. - sorry, but voters for option 1 must be kidding.
Download Tom Gaines' new cast and crew lists and insert them into your profiles - it looks perfect. No need for any further complicated discussions.

I agree with this.

For those proponents of episode level profiling (sometime in the future), I find it hard to believe that you would actually support option #1.

If we do Option #2 now, all you do is copy/paste into individual episodes later.

I won't even bother mentioning "as credited"....that's apparently dead for TV Sets!

Why do you think as credited is dead for TV sets, i have not seen any where that I or antone else has said to list anything but what you see On screen. If they did, I missed it and that would be dead wrong.

Quoting the Current Rules:

"...with names and roles listed exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited."

Putting some under "Main Cast" and then others under episode dividers is not "as credited" as defined above!

Skip, could we please get some clarification on this issue, so that we can begin whatever lengthy process we need to begin?

Also, if we do "as credited"...well, most TV shows don't credit whatever role it is the actor is playing. Do you just leave them all blank?

Hal:

As I have previously described, Option 1 is a bit more streamlined in appearance, Option #2 is best for accuracy. However even Option 1 is not an unthought out departure from As Credited. The Opening credits are defined as those credits that repeat in every episode.

For example the Opening Credits
for Leave it to Beaver Season 1 are the SAME before EVERY episode
Barbara Billingsley
Hugh Beaumont
Tony Dow
Jerry Mathers as The Beaver

All Option 1 says, in essence, above the divider, these people are credited in EVERY Episode of this Season or on this Disc, everyone else for the specific Episodes falls below the divider. It s a variation of As credited but not a departure oir destruction of it. Option 2 presents better accuracy, perfect to the show credits but not necessarily perfect. Ultimate accuracy would be to sit and watch each and every Episode to make note that in this Episode Barbara Billingsley though credited did not appear, she went to see Aunt May  (AKA had the week off) I doubt seriously that very many users would be intersted in going to that extreme, though perhaps some might. Speaking for myself the opening credits are close enough...for Government work.

Nice job.  I like the way you set up the cast section.  Haven't had a chance to look at the cast section yet.

Umm, which cast did you look at?

Sorry Unicus, I just had to ask.

I keep answering the same questions.<hits self in head>

The Rules already cover this

"If a film does not have standard credits, use the following rules:

    * If a film has actors listed in the opening credits, which are not listed in the end credits, add these to the list in DVD Profiler before those taken from the end credits.
    * If a film has no end credits, but does have actors credited elsewhere, enter the actors from those credits.
    * If an actor is credited by name but does not have an associated role, you may use another source to identify the role. In each case, list Actor’s names and roles (when given) exactly as they are in the credits and in exactly the same order credited."

Skip, I understand that. Are you ready to determine what said "another source" may be?

That is the point I was trying to make. The order of people credited will not be correct using method #1 because even if people appear in every episode, they may not be credited in the same order.

Really, Skip, I am intelligent enough to understand what Option #1 and Option #2 mean.

In spite of everything you have said option two does not meet the letter of the Rule as I quoted it above.  That's all.  It is not "in exactly the same order credited".

Spin it any way you like!

Nice spanner in the works Hal!

As the poll mentions no changes to the rules, under the current rules it is null as I agree with Hal that option 1 breaks them.

I have changed my vote to 2... although I would prefer 1, assuming a rule change could be agreed with Ken/Gerri to allow this flexability.
