No, rick you are missing the point of my post, but then that's no surprise. Eeveryon started making suppositions instead of asking that is the point.

By Main titles I mean the typically the set of titles that "does not change" from week to week, this does not allow for mid-season additions to such data, but I have discussed that. Those credits such as Leave It to Beaver, star Tre, Hawaii Five-O, Magnum PI, pick your poison, from show to show those opening credits are the same, then with some shows you have the Episode credits, typically shown just after the first commercial break, then finally you have the end credits. This is NOT universal, what in Hollywood, we could only dream, but it effectively describes how to deal with shows set up in some variation of the above format, the key is there a credit set displayed usually during the shows opening that is stable. If not then it doesn't apply to that show. Some exceptions I have seen  are for example, Daniel Boone, which contains opening credits, episode credits, BUT all of the data is repeated at the end of the show with Roles.

I have now uploaded style #1 cast and crew for 24 Season Two to my online collection for anyone who wonders what it might look like. (Note: there is some sort of bug that causes the credits to be listed under the wrong category above season dividers, and Ep11 does not have Joseph Hodges listed in it locally, but it will not correct on upload.  )

Season One has only #1 style cast and the crew is #2.

Now I'm going to bed.

Once again to both Unicus and Achim, I have yet to have anyone say OK Skip you say Main Cast what did you have in mind. I think, perhaps I am wrong, but I think it would be rational instead of presuming to create your own definition, you might ask the author, he probably had something specific in mind.

Sorry, but I expect the author to say what they mean.  If what they said was misunderstood then they should offer a clarification instead of a condescending statement like this one.

That being said, you are changing direction midstream.  Your original post asked how we should treat, "a basic set of characters that appear in the, usually the Opening of the show."  Now you are asking what we should do with the opening credits vs. the rest of the credits.  Sorry, but those are two completely different questions.

Nice job.  I like the way you set up the cast section.  Haven't had a chance to look at the cast section yet.

Not changing directions at all, Unicus, once again trying to interpret. I was expanding what I have seen and attempting to describe what I had visualized when i wrote the poll. If I'm not clear that is fine, I will attempt to clarify when asked, you've worked with me long enough to know that. I did not understand that I was unclear, I thought I was VERY clear and concise in my statement, what I saw following that were presumptions of various kinds that had nothing to do with what I was proposing or had visualized, and as a result as I commented were making a simple concept much harder than it was.

When you develop telepathy please let me know we'll make a killing. Stop trying it doesn't work and stop your own form of condescension.

My mistake then.  As I said, I expect people to mean what they say and say what they mean.  I expect no less from myself.  If I notice someone didn't understand I take it upon myself to try and explain it better.  No worries mate.

This is perhaps the problem.  You don't understand that you rarely post with any clarity or precision.  Very few of your posts would I describe as "clear and concise".  Unfortunately I don't know what could be suggested to rectify the problem, except perhaps a year or two in technical writing classes.

Thank you for the back handed slap, kinematics. I could make similar comment relative to what I MIGHT perceive about the intelligence of the users, but that would be being as rude as you were.

Perhaps you should take some programming classes.

I'm for the Main cast at the top, with only guest cast per episode... except I would like to know if a main cast member was NOT in a specific episode.

Any thoughts on this?

My thoughts are as long as they are credited for the episode they need to be credited in profiler. Since we go by the credits there is no way to remove them. I think if this is wanted... and yes I see the plus side of this... it would mean doing the cast local.

IMHO the rules do not allow a "maincast" section in TV-Series
"List all Cast Members for a TV Series appropriately. Use the Divider feature to indicate episode divisions"
So it's only to use as a episode-divider, and not as a "let us summarize something"-divider...

Yes, the whole discussion is a bit... hmmm.... useless. It really is more of a "feature request".

Achim:

He said, correctly that De Kelley was not added initially to the opening credits, therefore he would not be credited above the divider for that season He could be added to every episode for the balance of the season since he is credited, perhaps that is where i confused you, sorry. I knew what i was thinking, just didn't communicate it well.

Thanks for clarifying, I misunderstood.

Hopefully we'll hear from Ken soon.
"I am Andrew Ryan and I am here to ask you a question:
Is a man not entitled to the sweat of his own brow?

No, says the man in Washington. It belongs to the poor.
No, says the man in the Vatican. It belongs to God.
No, says the man in Moscow. It belongs to everyone.

I rejected those answers. Instead, I chose something
different. I chose the impossible. I chose…
Rapture."

What if there is one episode without cast except for the main cast? Should we still add a divider for that episode?  I've tried both with and without a divider and I can't decide what I  like most. If we go with the divider, it lists an empty episode. If we leave it out, it looks like we forgot that episode

Another reason for option #2...
